Beschreibung

Ever since he made his first appearance in A Study In Scarlet, Sherlock Holmes has enthralled and delighted millions of fans throughout the world. Now Arthur Conan Doyle's complete works – four novels and five collections of short stories – has been brought to life by Stephen Fry, a lifelong fan of Doyle's detective fiction, in this The Definitive Collection. In addition, Stephen has written and narrated nine insightful, intimate and deeply personal introductions to each title. Part 2: The Sign of the Four Sherlock Holmes is bored and case-less, and relieving his boredom by alternating morphine and cocaine. Enter the charming Miss Mary Morstan, with whom Watson is instantly smitten. She requests the assistance of Holmes and Watson to solve the mysterious disappearance of her father, and the subsequent invitation to 'have justice' by an anonymous letter writer. Holmes and Watson happily accompany her to see the anonymous letter writer; only to become deeply embroiled in a mystery concerning treasure, murders, India, escaped convicts and small savages with poisoned blowpipes.

Let me first say that I love the bromance of Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson! I love their fun, how they treat eachother and respect - even in a really strange way. Sherlock is one of the most interesting characters in literature. After watching the three seasons of Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman I find myself totally into that stuff. I loved the movies with Robert Downey Jr. too. I read a story last year and want to read more. I really like how Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote. It has everything at once. I really enjoy the journal by Watson. And firstly it really was a five star story but just before the huge monologue by the guy with(out) the treasure. It was so boring what he told. And when that guy finally came up to the point it was everything we knew before. At that part of the book it seems like a three star thing. I really need to read more of it.
