Beschreibung

Silver strings she can’t outrun…her trouble now has just begun.
After Cora Glass’s life was stolen by Harrow Faire, things just keep going from bad to worse. Unable to run, unable to escape, there seems to be no way to avoid what she’s become—the Contortionist. But a girl can only take so much.

Haunted by an abandoned and seemingly sentient circus? Fine.
The life of her best friend threatened unless she sacrificed herself? Fine.
Tormented and stalked by a grinning madman who wanted to kill her, and now wants to do worse? That’s where Cora has to draw the line.

As she struggles with the knowledge that magic is real and she will never go home again, she is also forced to contend with the advances of a man who may be the devil himself. And just like the tales of old, she finds herself drawn to him. If only Harrow Faire would slow down and give her a second to catch her breath.

Too bad that doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

Musste beim lesen ganz oft schmunzeln. “Don’t call me names, you overdressed crimson pimp. I’m well past my limit, and I’m done taking shit from somebody who looks like they fell out of the bargain bin at a Halloween outlet.” He cackled at her insult. “I love it when you get mouthy! Good. I was hoping you weren’t an utter wet noodle.” “What did you want to have happen? How did you expect this to go? You attacked me! What, did you think I was just going to lie there after you broke in, in the middle of the night, and go ‘oh, please, harder, daddy?’” She answered his anger with her own. “Yes, actually! I see how you look at me.”

Book 2 of Harrow Faire is as amazing as the first. I like that we, the readers, experience everything with Cora, as she slowly adjusts to and explores the secrets of Harrow Faire, instead of skipping forward in time. The story itself feels kind of slow-paced right now, but it's great - I absolutely love how many romantic moments with Simon we got, their enjoyable interactions, all the almost-kisses and actual few kisses. This is the best kind of slow burn, the kind where there's still so much tension between them, so many hot and even soft moments between them. Simon is such a villain, but he still manages to be there for her in his own way.
