Gut, aber einer der schwächeren Thriller von ihr
Ich mag McFadden, aber das Buch hat mich nicht wirklich gefesselt. Am Ende wie immer krasser Plottwist.
Wieder sehr spannend. Auflösung etwas an den Haaren herbeigezogen.
A good twist, but an otherwise okay plot
This is the fourth book I read by this author, and I could tell it was one of her earlier works. The suspense left a bit to be desired, and I didn't warm up to the characters at all. This is also usually not a topic that I like reading about in Thrillers, and I feel like there were too few suspensful scenes in this book, and too much of a focus was put on character development. If this meant that I grew close to the main character, and started to care about her, this type of writing would be fine. But because I didn't particularly like any of the characters, I also wasn't really inclined to continue reading the book once I had put it down. The twist at the end was the only scene that left me speechless, anything else that happened felt pretty generic for a Thriller. Not her best, but also not the last one I will read by her!
The overall story was very good. I never was quite sure whodunnit. The narrator was a little too sing-songy as if she was reading a children’s story and that was off putting at times. I will definitely read more by this author.
Freida 💜💜💜💜💜
Gosh, I'm so sorry, but that was boring and then totally unbelievable. And I think our protagonist had the IQ of a piece of toast. Above all, McFadden gets lost in the intrigues of her characters and makes them implausible. I think Freida McFadden and I are just not made for each other.
The Locked Door by Freida McFadden is a perfectly adequate thriller anyone would expect to read now in terms of length and quality. Freida has a knack for writing and she got her rhythm down to a tee. My only criticism of the book is that it came across as too commercial. Like it was a product of a thriller mill. The story was good, I also appreciated the twists until the very end. I imagine this could be a book Netflix could adapt. Like the book, this movie would be fun and easily forgotten. I'm no art snob, majority of the media I consume is like this. Just perfect distractions. We need plenty of these nowadays. I forgot the name of the narrator, but she was miscast for the role. She delivered the 36/37 year old protagonist, Nora, like a teenager. Cringe. This brought down the level of enjoyment for me. Read the eBook while listening to the audiobook for a more immersive experience. I absolutely recommend this title and will surely read more Freida McFadden very soon.
actually a good one but the ending was kinda weird
