♥️♥️
Absolut empfehlenswert! ♥️
The idea was promising, but the middle was very slow. During the last part the story finally picked up and started to get interesting. Hope the second book keeps this pace.
Oh. Oooh. Never expected this sort of ending and I don't have the second book on hand.
I can totally see why everyone loves this book. Although there were a few parts that didn't really surprise me, by the end I was completely hooked by the story. The main character goes through some major development, and I love when that happends. Also Kaden und Rafe were two very nice guys. I did, however, already guess from the beginning who was who. It didn't come as a surprise to me whatsoever. That really made me angry, because I was expecting such a lot from this book and "the huge plot-twist", but also with guessing it, the book was great. However, I found the first 300-ish pages to be a bit boring and just too long for what actually happened (that's why I had to remove one star). By the end of the book though, the plot was speeding up, the characters grew close to me, and I fell completely in love with the writing. The "magic" aspect was kind of present throughout the whole book, but was only really focuses on in the last few pages, and I really wish to see more of that in the next book. All in all I can say that I did enjoy the book. It had some flaws, but it was still a great and recommendable read. 4/5 ★
In the first book of the Remnant Chronicles we meet Lia, Princess and the First Daughter of Morrighan, as she flees her arranged marriage. She and her best friend from court, Pauline, settle into Terravin, an unobserved part of her kingdom. She thinks she can start a new, simple life there, as a happy, normal woman. Lia didn’t expect for her father to send a bounty hunter for her head, or two men showing up at the tavern she works at. Only to get herself caught up in a love triangle. Her naïve way of thinking she could just run away and live a normal life without consequences to face marks the beginning of an end she never has anticipated. I have to say that this was a slow burning book. Especially the time Lia, Rafe and Kaden spend together in Terravin was sometimes a bit lengthy. But still there are some surprises and plot twists I haven’t seen coming, so the story was from time-to-time sure thrilling. What really got me to read this book in the first place was also what kept me going: I wanted to know what was behind all the little ancient text snippets in front of the chapters, I wanted to know the story behind the tales and myths that wind around this continent. And also: I read dance of thieves and vow of thieves first, so I knew big things were to come for this series, and these two books have been some of my favourite books ever, so the Remnant Chronicles couldn’t be too bad. And I was not disappointed. The Book is written in different POVs, which I always love. Gives me a brighter insight into all the characters and the world they’re living in. The information is poured slowly and in snippets throughout the book and just at the very end you start to understand what’s really happening and a bit of the greater purpose is shown. Lia is caught up in some kind of love triangle with Kaden and Rafe, both of them she really doesn’t know. As reader you get a sense that something isn’t the way it seems, but Lia seems oblivious to it. A naïve girl that ran away, thinking nobody would do her harm and everybody would leave her alone. As the whole deception starts to crumble the book is taking up speed. The truth starts to unfold a little, as Lia’s free choice is taken away from her again. This book is a good start to the Remnant Chronicles and it makes you definitely want to read the rest of the trilogy, which I of course did.
OMG THE PLOTTWIST??? IMMACULATE
