Duke undercover

My 4th book from KJ Charles and another highlight. I'd even say my new favorite so far. I just loved the characters, their dynamic, the little adventure. Not too much drama, nor too little. It was just right 😊 The Duke of Severn just wanted to enjoy a little one night stand while he was out without servants. The next morning, he finds himself robbed of all his belongings, even his clothes, and worst of all, his family ring! Nobody can know he lost this important heirloom, and so he sets out undercover to retrieve it, which turns out harder than he thought. Good, that he meets the quick minded Daizell Charnage who agrees to help him. There were just so many little things I adored or found interesting and exciting. Also, it goes in other directions than just the thief hunt, and I loved the ending scenes when the characters from the other volumes show up or are mentioned (you don't have to read them before, but it's nice to recognize them). Their relationship and intimacy were just so nice. I think this is the first book I've read where the characters "don't care about buggery," as they said xD (the correct term for that is side, I believe. As in, not a top or a bottom, a side). And this has somnophilia (with consent!), which was also something I hadn't read about yet, so that was interesting. (and the "Only one bed" trope happens often btw xD) The class difference is also handled well, which I really appreciate in this series. Due to the way they meet, their dynamic also feels more equal from the beginning. The way that they found to be together seems realistic, without being too complicated or anything. I especially liked the Duke's struggle with being the Duke, but wanting to be just Cassian as well, and Daizell's need to feel useful. Excited to read more from KJ Charles 🥰

Ich liebe KJ Charles... meistens. Diese Geschichte war leider etwas schwach.
