The magic system is so interesting but was never fully explored or explained and seemed almost a secondary plot. The middle dragged a little and the „final conlfict“ felt a little sudden (why was the FMC character suddenly able to cast a spell?). The setup for the „villain“ could have been the main plotline for the whole book and was mentioned far too late into the story.
3.5/5 Late Victorian England and magic? Sign me up. The MCs are cute and have a solid background, a slow forming relationship between them keeps them together. The magis system is interesting, yet lacks a little explanation here and there. The only problem I had was with pacing and story telling. The middle of the book was a little slow moving for me, but the ending sets us up beautifully for the second book.
