Ein düsteres, magisches, gewaltiges Buch.
„For those who still dream and remember, for those yet to experience the hypnotic power of its dark poetry, step inside.“ Für mich ist Something Wicked This Way Comes eins der Bücher, wegen denen ich 5 Sterne eigentlich fast nie vergebe. Damit ich Bücher wie dieses hervorheben kann. Bücher, die mich mit einem Gefühl der Leere zurücklassen, weil ich nach Ende des Buches nicht weiterlesen kann und mich dann aber noch Wochen, Monate - und in diesem Fall Jahre - später begleiten, weil sich Stimmung, Worte und Gedanken aus dem Buch für immer in meine Seele gebrannt haben. Die Bücher von Ray Bradbury würde ich sowieso jedem empfehlen, der wortgewaltige, poetische Bücher mit düsterer, mysteriöser Stimmung liebt, aber dieses Buch ist wirklich nochmal etwas ganz besonderes. Lest es, wenn das Zirkusthema euch fasziniert. Lest es, wenn ihr poetische und bildgewaltige Sprache in Büchern genießt. Lest es, wenn ihr Halloween liebt. Lest es, wenn ihr gerne Coming of Age Bücher lest. Lest es, wenn ihr Suspense, Mystery und klassischen Horror mit Gänsehautfaktor mögt. Lest es, wenn ihr noch nie etwas von Ray Bradbury gelesen habt. Lest es einfach. Ich beende diese Rezension, die dem Buch sowieso nicht gerecht werden kann, mit einem Zitat aus dem Klappentext, das die Stimmung des Buches sehr gut einfängt: „The carnival rolls in sometime after midnight, ushering in Halloween a week early. A calliope's shrill siren song beckons to all with a seductive promise of dreams and youth regained. Two boys will discover the secret of its smoke, mazes, and mirrors; two friends who will soon know all too well the heavy cost of wishes... and the stuff of nightmares.“
Story: 7/10 Characters: 7/10 Style: 8/10 The more I think about it, the more I love the message of this book: To laugh at evil, because it only has power over you if you take it serious. And to not worry yourself with your age and life itself because it makes you overlook the present and its opportunities. This strategy first reminded me of "It" when the boys just need to think of something they love to keep the evil away, but Bradbury's method carries the message better. The only point that bordered me was in the end when Will's dad started hitting him. I know I'm pernickety and the view on parenting was different in the 60's but it leaves a bad taste no matter what.
