Tropes: – fake dating – bodyguard romance – forbidden love – cat mom – grumpy x sunshine – celebrity romance – family and found family
The game Jane‘s brothers invented to test Thatcher’s love for her may be one of the funniest storylines throughout the whole series, probably with the Addicted/Calloway Sisters included too. I laughed so hard – Cobalt humor is my kind of humor. I was a bit skeptical regarding the twin-switch-storyline at first, but it is so much fun. The cherry on top is that they are doing it all under Tony-the-dumbass‘s nose (I can‘t tell you how often I wanted to punch him throughout the book, such a nasty character.) The strain this has on Akara‘s and Thatcher‘s friendship hurts, it really does – I‘m an Akara- and a Thatcher-girlie, so I want them both happy – but it‘s a necessary and important consequence and something I like about this book universe is that, even though it never stops being a comfort place while doing so, it also does address serious issues and hard truths. F.e. when the media and hecklers and just ugly people try to body-shame Jane, or criticize her for what she wears. Even though she stays strong, this has a pull and an impact on her, and the books address that. And that is so important. I love the books for it. 5/5⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
