Guter Anfang einer Trilogie

Zuerst war ich ein bisschen verwirrt, weil die Charaktere wirklich als Superheld/Bösewicht beschrieben werden. In anderen Büchern werden diese Begriffe immer umschrieben, aber hier ist es eher wie ein Berufstitel. Was ich richtig gut finde, ist die Art und Weise wie die Superhelden/Bösewichte an ihre Fähigkeiten kommen. Für mich ist das Konzept total neu gewesen und ich finde die Backstories der Charaktere dadurch noch spannender. Die Charaktere ist der nächste Pluspunkt. Sie sind greifbar und unterhaltsam. Die Liebesgeschichte die sich anbahnt ist süß und altersgemäß- washable man auch mehr mitfiebert obwohl es eine kleine Nebenhandlung ist. Nova ist unglaublich interessant und ich freu mich auf ihre Entscheidungen und Entwicklung in den nächsten Teilen. Einige der Bösewichte gingen mir aber so auf die Nerven, dass ich manchmal das Buch zur Seite legen musste. Die haben mich so irritiert. Das Ende war nun auch wirklich nicht überraschend, wie einige andere Handlungen auch, aber es macht unglaublich viel Lust auf den nächsten Band!

Es waren mir zu viele Klischee-Superhelden-Zeilen. Die empfand ich als cringy. Ich bin mir unsicher, was dieses Buch betrifft. Da ich die meisten "Plottwists" genauso habe kommen sehen, haben mich diese nicht überrascht, aber trotzdem neugierig auf den zweiten Teil gemacht. Ich denke es kann eine sehr einfache, unterhaltsame Freizeit Lektüre sein. Nciht mehr und nicht weniger.

Renegades habe ich durchgesuchtet, wenn man beachtet, dass ich es auf Englisch gelesen habe. Ich konnte es einfach nicht aus der Hand legen. Es hätte für mich ein paar Seiten weniger haben können, da es dadurch vielleicht noch ein bisschen spannender gewesen wäre, aber ich hab die Handlung und die Charaktere geliebt. Bei der Anzahl der Charaktere fiel es mir allerdings nicht immer leicht, den Durchblick zu behalten. Es war ein super Auftakt für die Trilogie, ich denke aber auch, dass noch ein bisschen Platz nach oben für die nächsten Bände ist 🥰

A story that definitely did not live up to its full potential.

I really enjoyed the beginning of the story, but unfortunately it never really took off. Most of the characters stay one-dimensional and the action sort of falls flat - making the roughly 500-page-read rather tedious.

Renegades Marissa Meyer's writing style is just as beautiful here as it is in the Lunar Chronicles! And her imagination is fantastic! Marissa Meyer has the kind of writing that feels like coming home. For me it feels like I've already been in this world, but not in a bad way! It's just the way she writes! I usually have some trouble getting into the world of a new book because there's all this world building and rules and characters and concepts that I'm not familiar with because it's the first in a series. But Marissa Meyer has a way of making it so easy to follow and fall in, something that I haven't felt often, but the two series of her authorship I've read are like that. I love it! It makes me want to keep on reading more and more, even when my eyes are falling closed. Just a few pages in and the writing is amazing as always, the world is fantastic, the characters complex and the plot is unraveling in a Marissa Meyer style, which is glorious! In a society where normal humans oppress prodigies, people with extraordinary abilities fight back hard. One of them decides he's had enough and forms a group, the Anarchists, and literally takes over the world, plunging the it into absolute chaos. But then hope blooms when the Renegades, the good guys, are formed and start to help people. Nova is a young girl with the ability of putting others to sleep and an inventor too. Her uncle is the creator of the Anarchists and her family has to ask him for help sometimes. But her father got involved with the wrong people and a man comes to their house and shoots both of Nova's parents, and she watches it all. She runs inside and hides. But too late she remembers her sister. No time to get her before the man comes inside the house and kills her, coming to look for Nova next. But he makes a grave mistake with her, puts himself within touching range and Nova puts him to sleep. But as she hid, she kept wishing and hoping and praying for the Renegades to come save her. That night she lost all hope for that. But she lost her uncle not long after, when the Renegades won back the city. Now Nova's bitter, her hatred for the heroes is palpable through the pages, and she can't stand the celebration of heroes in their pretty parade. She and her Anarchists friends were planning to kill a superhero there. As she waited, a little thief bumps into her and, without Nova realizing it, takes the bracelet her father was making before he died. But then the little girl bumps into Adrian and he forces her to give the object back. The clasp is broken though, but with his ability he draws on her skin and the claps appears in the bracelet. It's a moment in a bubble. Nova is scared and apprehensive that he's touching her, but Adrian is super nice and cute. Nova has to goshe has a mission. But she doesn't make it. She takes too long to shoot the Captain, one half of Adrian's adoptive dads, and by the time she does not only does she fail but she is also attacked by the young Renegades. Even though it's a three-on-one fight Nova wins and keeps in running. Only to be hit by another Renegade. This one is a little trickier and Nova almost falls off a building because of him before putting him to sleep and escaping. Into the basket of an hot-air balloon of one of her teammates, who wasn't even supposed to be there. To avoid going down with him, after the Captain attacked, Nova has no qualms about throwing him off the basket. Adrian is the Sentinel, the one that fought Nova doesn't play. Thanks to the tattoos he made on himself he can also summon fire and has a very techy suit that allows his to jump buildings no problem! Adrian feels really bad for the mistake he made by hurting Dana, a friend and his teammate. And he’s also now obsessed with finding Nightmare, to know who she is and what she knows, only because she said something to him that he wasn't expecting (and that's what caused his mistake...). Leroy, or Cyanide, proposed to Nova the same plan Adrian's friends thought: infiltrate the Renegades. They have trials for their team and with a little scheming and some lying Nova could enter and even win a place at their table. Then the Anarchists would have more information, more power, more chances to take back the world! Nova just has to say yes and try not to look disgusted by heroes. Become a spy for her own team. A team of Renegades comes to the tunnels to get answers about the attack on the parade and they are horrible. For heroes they sure seem like villains! They destroy food stores, innocent bees and their homes, attack without provocation and even torture one of the Anarchists to try and force a confession so they can lock them up. It's really hard to side with the heroes when they behave like this and really easy to side with the villains, who comply with demands and get punished for it. Thankfully that's just when our lovely Sentinel shows up, burning the tracks in his still-untrained way. He saves them, though, and even helps them a little. But Adrian is still after Nova and the Anarchists don't really like him either. Especially when they have no idea who he is. And because of that, Nova decides to go forward with the plan to infiltrate the Renegades and with Leroy's help she gets a proper identity. And gets her fingerprints partly erased so she's not connected to the assassination attempt made on the Captain. When she tries out she only mentions that she never sleeps and her non-"super" abilities. Every team rejects her, but not Adrian. He just stands there, recognizing her and thinking of her usefulness not just for a team but for the Renegades in general. So he is the only one to say yes, even though he doesn't consult is super funny and adorable friends/teammates. Of course his decision is challenged. She accepts the challenge and chooses the guy whose skin turns to stone to fight! I know she'll win, but man is the girl crazy! It kind of feels like she plays the man for a while and it's only by chance, and one of Adrian's drawings, that she wins. As she's making her way to Adrian's table, Ruby and Oscar go to her and she flips them on their heads! She wasn't expecting them, saw only Adrian and her instinct was to attack them! Luckily Adrian was there and reminded her they are on the same team. I think it's perfectly clear in the moment he welcomes her to the Renegades that she likes him. That they will be together at the end of all this. Nova is afraid when she reaches HQ and keeps expecting people to recognize her and arrest her. But when Ruby and Oscar call her name, she seems to relax a bit and then fully enter her role when she dons her uniform. And when Adrian gets there, she wants to see everything. She even suggests the creation of a civilian police force, but her team reminds her that no one would want that because they are so used to having Renegades taking care of everything... Nova meeting Max, the 10-year-old boy in quarantine, is so adorable! The kid is so cute and he is already fascinated by Nova, just because she defeated Gargoyle. Nova is a villain when she wants to be, but she's also innocent. When she tells the Anarchists of the mission to survey the library for suspicious activity from a weapons dealer, they are the first to remind her that even if the Renegades don't find evidence, they can plant it, especially with Adrian's gift... So Ingrid will warn the man and Nova can then inspect the plan with her team and "get it over with" and focus on other things in HQ. While they are at the stake out the team gets to know each other a little better. It turns out that not everyone has powers at birth, they are actually a minority. Oscar died in a fire in his apartment building and came back to life all on his own. Ruby had her house robbed and since her grandmother had hidden gems all over the house, she swallowed a few rubies to keep them from being taken. The gang raiding her house saw that and stabbed her but she stabbed back with a ruby dagger made from her blood. Her wounds never healed. Adrian's power he has since birth and it's a funny and sweet origin story. Nova's power of putting others to sleep is also something she's had since birth, but the one where she doesn't sleep developed after her family's murder... And the poor thing wants Adrian to come ask her if she's alright! When Nova comes back inside, she has a very sweet talk with Adrian, they bond! And she can't help but look at him! When morning comes and nothing has happened, Nova tries to convince the team to enter the library anyway. They are all a little reluctant but when they see Ingrid, a known Anarchist, they go in almost immediately. They tell the Librarian to take them to the basement, where they suppose the weapons are but see nothing but books and bookshelves. And then Ingrid reveals herself and it's chaos! As she goes in search of Adrian she finds the Librarian and his granddaughter trying to save his precious books. The library is falling apart and when Sentinel asks after Nightmare the man, in his pain, starts talking, but Ingrid kills him. It's a mess on that roof and Nova is again caught between doing what's right and being an Anarchist. The library starts to collapse in on itself and Nova doesn't know what to do or think as she still has no idea where Adrian is. So when Sentinel is again beside her and not answering her very reasonable questions, even though it feels like Adrian is this close to telling her, she shoots him multiple times. Adrian gets his request to interrogate the Puppeteer, an Anarchist. And he insists on Nova going with the rest of the team too, even though she practically begs him to let her pass. The entire time she's afraid the man is going to betray her, especially because he has every reason to, but he lies and covers for her. The lies are terrible and once he almost slips, not to mention how much he stared at Nova when he walked into the room, but never sells her out. While Nova is doing her job of cataloguing weapons into the system, she logs one that is the same model as the one used for her family's murder and reads a summarized report on it. It seems that the Captain went there after all, but it was too late... And when she tries to read more, it's password protected and she gets even angrier. But all that slips her mind when she sees Max levitating, just like her uncle. She had already seen that his power was absorption. Nova distracts the kid and he falls, piercing his hand with a building spire. So she runs to him, not knowing why he's there only that she has to help him. When she enters Max is panicking, yelling at her to get out, but she's so focused on helping him that too late she notices anything else and then she collapses. Max calls security and medics and meanwhile Adrian enters HQ, intended on having a late night snack with Nova (and he's so adorably cute!), when he notices the commotion. As soon as he sees Max pleading for help, he goes running and with some effort he takes Nova out of the quarantine. She's asleep and when he coaxes her awake she's in a panic after having dreamt, again, about her family's murder... And that's when Adrian finally explains to her that Max's power is to draw the abilities of others to himself. The person ceases to have their power, and that's what happened to Ace Anarchy, Nova's uncle. Both Nova and Adrian are in an unnerved state wondering if their abilities are gone. But Adrian still has them and, even though he was there a shorter amount of time than her, Nova believes hers are there too... And to test that she surreptitiously uses them on Dana, proving her powers haven't left her. Dana told Nova that there were artifacts that anyone could see in the Council's floor so of course she went there. She sees a painting of the battle and it hurts to see how the lie was depicted but then she sees the helmet. Her uncle's helmet. So she inspects it and realizes that it's a fake. It's heavy and unlike her bracelet, and inside it confirms that it's not the real thing. Simon, Adrian's dad and Dread Warden, sees her observing it and it doesn't take much effort from Nova to get him to tell her that they couldn't break the helmet, the one in display was more of a symbol than anything while the real one was in the artifacts' vault. Then Simon tells her the truth about the battle. Ace had isolated himself and was fighting hard. Max was hidden close by because he could affect everyone in the battle so when the Captain was sure that the damage was minimal, he went to get the kid and met Ace. Knowing he could not win against him, he started trying to hurt Max. But he was growing weak and when his helmet was taken he killed himself in the cathedral's fire... Ingrid intercepts Nova and proposes her a plan to fake both Nightmare's and Detonator's deaths so the Renegades stop being on their tails. But then she sees Adrian and Nova rushes back home. He is so adorably awkward with her! He even asks her on a date by disguising it as a mission to see if there is anything that connects Nightmare to the park. While in the fun house, Adrian and Nova get separated and he's worried about her when he comes outside and both Nightmare and Detonator are outside. They "fight" and Nightmare "shoots" Detonator. But Ingrid truly wanted Nova gone, because according to her she was forgetting herself. So she sets off a huge bomb and almost takes out Nova. After some struggle, Adrian binds Ingrid's hands and the Council arrives. It all fine and dandy until they realize that she doesn't need her hands to make her bombs explode! That's when Nova comes back and kills Ingrid. One of the original superheroes off-handedly tells Nova that they are working on an antidote for powers. The way he says it, like their antidote is going to be a mandatory thing, imposed on criminals and anyone that is not a Renegade. I thought that Nova's identity was going to be revealed at the end. But no. Her secret is close to being exposed multiple times, but never close enough that people connect the dots. But now she has a renewed hatred for the Renegades that want to oppress prodigies. This story has such a classy feel, from the comic book resemblances to the sweet and innocent romance! But it also has very current themes, like prejudices. The plot is a little slow for half the book, but the writing style makes it flow so easily and beautifully. It's easy to get lost in the book, in the story and characters. It draws on what I think many readers may enjoy, and I personally love, and that's superheroes. A world of it! And it's not Marvel or DC, it's not comics or manga. It's a story coming to life in our heads. It's completely new and it's compelling in its creativity. Marisa Meyer is an amazing author, capable of creating such fantastic worlds it's like we are leaving in them.

SO GOOD I liked the idea of Nova, the main character, as one of the „supervillains“ there and Adrian, the love interest, as one of the „superheroes“ I am really interested to see where their relationship will go when their secret identities, especially Novas, are going to be revealed What I like to see in every book I read is when the male interest also has some chapters out of his pov, because this makes him not just the „male interest“ but another character you begin to love when you read all about his thoughts and actions he takes; which made me like Adrian so much more In general I think the author did a really great job with the characters; I love them all and totally love to see their diversity; I mean different ethnic backgrounds of all the different characters, the gay dads of Adrian and also a disabled character like Oscar who still can be totally badass While I have watched lots of superhero movies like marvel, dc and other superhero series, I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy a book about it that mich- but I really liked it and found it totally interesting; It was also kinda different of other superhero story’s, especially with the theme of anarchy and the different lifestyles of the humans with superpowers, the prodigy’s, depending on which lifestyle they choose This is not a book where you can just root for the „good ones“ our superheroes, it is a book where you also understand some of the supervillains and what they want to accomplish And the plot twist in the last page?! I didn’t expect this at all and am curious to see what this will all lead to in the next two books

Auf dieses Buch von Marissa Meyer hatte ich mich sehr gefreut, denn ich liebe ihre Lunar-Chronicals-Serie! Ich hatte erhofft, sie würde sich wieder einer bekannten Geschichte widmen und sie neu und modern erzählen. Nun, sie widmet sich durchaus einer bekannten Story: Superhelden treffen auf Superbösewichte, alle haben Superkräfte und… boy meets girl. Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass mich das ein wenig enttäuscht hat. Es ist nicht schlecht gemacht. Die Erzählung ist glaubwürdig, in sich relativ logisch, die Charaktere sind nett, es gibt mysteriöse Elemente und ein unerwartetes Ende. Dennoch. Zu viel daran erinnerte mich an „Steelheart“ von Brandon Sanderson. Doch wo dieser actionreich und spannend erzählt, wirkt es bei Meyer eher kitschig und belehrend. Ich kann Novas Motivation für ihre Entscheidungen nicht wirklich nachvollziehen, auch wenn die Autorin den Auslöser sehr eindrücklich schildert. Es wird aber nicht klar, woher sie den Mut nimmt, als Spionin zu arbeiten und wie sie zu ihren plötzlichen Sinneswandlungen kommt. Ihre Emotionen sind zu oberflächlich, zu berechenbar. „Renegades“ war nett zu lesen, aber wer Superhelden mag, sollte vielleicht doch lieber zu „Steelheart“ greifen. Ich bin mir noch nicht sicher, ob ich Band 2 der Serie lesen werde.

En el comienzo éramos todos villanos. Este libro es una joya que no se como no había leído antes. Es demasiado entretenido, adictivo, tiene un universo muy bien construido y te mantiene intrigada en casi todo momento. Algunas partes si fueron algo aburridas y predecibles pero, fueron solo pocas. Me encanta la diversidad que tiene este libro con sus personajes, me encanta como cada uno tiene un poder distinto y cada uno tiene sus debilidades pero aun así nos demuestra que debemos enfocarnos en nuestras habilidades. Me dolió mucho la historia de Nova pero me hace feliz que tenga personas como Honey y Leroy que se preocupan por ella, que poco a poco vaya haciendo amigos como Ruby y Oscar, quizá incluso Danna. Y me encanta como fluye su relación con Adrian. Solo cuando se volvió demasiado difícil seguir fingiendo, advirtió que sonreía. Ese final me dejó loca.

This was really good. I rediscovered why I like Marissa Meyer‘s writing so much. It‘s just so pleasant to read. I really liked the powers in this book. While I have read about people with superpowers a lot lately, I must say that they were handled in a unique way in this book. Some of the superheroes‘ names were a bit cringey though. The characters were also a great feature of the novel. They felt real as they all had their flaws and no one was just perfect. Plotwise I feel like the book was a little too long and some scenes were too lenghty. I also felt like the plot was slightly all over the place at times and I kinda lost focus on what we were trying to do exactly. The ending left me *shook* and really opened up many ways the story could go in. I am excited to see how the story will continue!

Die Autorin ist in Deutschland bekannt durch ihre Luna-Chroniken, die auch mir besonders gut gefallen haben und zu meinen liebsten Reihen gehört. Mit ihrer neuen Reihe geht sie in eine ganz andere Richtung, weg von den Märchen, auf zu den Superhelden! Ich möchte ehrlich sein, zuerst war ich nicht so begeistert. Dieses Buch hatte am Anfang nicht die Stärke und die Spannung gehabt, die ich erhofft hatte, natürlich waren meine Erwartungen auch sehr hoch. Aber mit jeder Seite habe ich gemerkt, dass die Handlung doch ganz interessant ist. Zum Teil wird sie aus der Sicht der Verlierer erzählt, einer Anarchistin, die mir als Protagonistin gut gefallen hat. Sie fällt auf, aber nicht zu sehr und handelt immer nachvollziehbar – Nova ist eben authentisch! Auf der anderen Seite steht ein Held der Renegades, Adrian, der eher einen weichen Charakter hat und auch wenn ich ihn mochte, blieb er mir persönlich zu durchschaubar. Doch es gibt noch unzählige weitere Personen, auf beiden Seiten, die eine wichtige Rolle in der Geschichte haben und es wird mit der Zeit dadurch viel aufregender, z.B. ein Mädchen, dessen Blut zu roten Diamanten wird oder eine Frau, die sich Honey nennt und mit Bienen, Wespen dergleichen kommunizieren und befehligen kann. Nebenbei hat die Autorin einige gute Hintergrundgeschichten aufgebaut zu den Charakteren und erst mit der Zeit merkt man den ganzen Umfang und Verbindungen (!) – ihr dürft gespannt sein! Abgesehen davon ist Frau Meyer bekannt für ihren Weltenaufbau und überraschenden Plots, weswegen sie noch so ein paar Dinge aus den Ärmeln zaubert….nur muss man sich gedulden. Es hat einfach gedauert bis es gut ins Rollen gekommen ist, wobei ich nicht sagen muss, dass es schwer war durch die ersten hundert Seiten zu kommen. Es ist immer noch der selbe bekannt Schreibstil, sehr flüssig und angenehm und als es dann richtig losging, konnte ich es nicht mehr aus der Hand legen. Besonders die letzten hundert Seiten (ca.) waren richtig zerrend und das Ende…ach das Ende. Es hat einfach alles nochmal um 180 Grad gedreht und ich dachte mir nur: “Ja, das ist Marissa Meyer.” und war unheimlich zufrieden mit dem Buch, weswegen ich schon sehnsüchtig auf den zweiten Band warte. Trotz Längen und anfänglichen Schwierigkeiten, hat das Buch einen festen Platz in meinem Regal. Mit jedem Kapitel entwickelt sich die Geschichte ein ganzes Stück und wird interessanter, voller, aufregender und endet mit einen gigantischen Knall. Schade, dass es mich zum Schluss hin (ca. ab der Hälfte) erst so richtig abgeholt hat. Dafür kann ich aber ohne Zweifel sagen, es wird genial und glaub mir, Marissa Meyer wird euch letztendlich nicht enttäuschen.

Most superhero books portray superheroes as solely good and that you should always have them. In this book however one of the main characters sees many issues with having superheroes. Just because some people have supernatural abilities does not mean that "normal" people cannot rely on themselves and try to be heroic as well. The two main characters have very different views on this issue, but both want to do the best for everyone. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series and see how this plays out further!

brief synopsis: The Renegades weren't there when she needed them the most. They weren't there when she hopelessly watched her family being murdered. In the brink of devastation, Nova Artino swore to death that she would bring upon destruction on Renegades and she would kill herself the leader of the Renegades, Captain Chromium. Thus, she became an Anarchist and as the team member she would do anything to achieve their sole purpose in getting rid of Renegades including faking her identity to become the Renegades itself. No one there knew her identity as a Nightmare in Anarchist and she would like to keep it that way. But what would happen when she stumbled across Adrian Everhart, the solely adopted son of her enemy who's been actively searching for Nightmare there ? I had a huge expectations while reading this one but was sorely disappointed in the midst of reading. First and foremost, I love the plot and I bought this book at the first place because I'm deeply interested with the synopsis at the back. But, the pace was too slow. Including with the repetitive writing and I just thought that I do not need this book to be over 500+ pages just to get to the end. There are few descriptive scenes that are way far to long that doesn't add up in helping the plot. Although, I do admire the characters written over here. I don't feel any chemistry sizzling between the main characters. It felt like, they are better off being just a friend instead of as a lovers. Based on my reading, It looks like only Nova affected the most from their meeting with Adrian. Well Adrian is just super busy looking for Nightmare. There are few scenes that are cute and sweet but I don't feel any connection between them and definitely don't mind them being relationships. Definitely love the all plot twist especially at the end of the story and huge appreciation note for the author in making Adrian Everhart as a hot nerd shy guy in which I couldn't stop swooning over him ❤️ I might continue the series since I need to know the ending, obviously. And hoping that the second book meets my expectations better. Rooting for the author to release more projects and TMI; this is actually my first book from Marissa Meyer !

Ich entdecke jedes Mal so viele kleine Details, die tragend sind. Die Häuser der Stadt Gatlon sind als eine Art Tower aufgebaut, der sich über den unteren Bildrand bis zum oberen zieht, dabei jedoch immer schmaler wird. Daraus schaut links der Setinel bzw. der Wächter heraus und rechts Nova bzw. Nightmare oder Nachtmahr. Hinter ihnen sieht man sozusagen Spotlight, die sie anstrahlen, was für mich eben auch den comicartigen Look des Covers unterschreibt, den ich sehr gut finde, weil das dieses Superheldenthema einleitet und man gleich ungefähr weiß, worum es geht. Zumindest ansatzweise, denn es geht um so viel mehr. Zum Inhalt: Sie sind eine Vereinigung speziell begabter Menschen. Nach einem Jahrzehnt der Gewalt und Anarchie haben sie in Gatlon City für Recht und Ordnung gesorgt: die Renegades. Seither gelten sie als Helden, zu denen alle aufsehen. Alle außer die Anarchisten, die von den Renegades vertrieben wurden, ihren Anführer verloren haben und die nun im Untergrund der Stadt auf Rache sinnen. Die 17-jährige Nova ist eine von ihnen. Sie hat ihre Familie auf schreckliche Weise verloren und allen Grund, die Renegades zu hassen. Aufgrund ihrer besonderen und geheimen Gabe soll sie sich bei den Renegades einschleichen, um sie dann von innen heraus zu zerstören. Alles verläuft nach Plan, bis sie sich ausgerechnet in den jungen Kommandanten Adrian verliebt – und er sich in sie. Eine Liebe, die nicht sein darf in Zeiten, wo sich Renegades und Anarchisten zum großen Kampf rüsten. Meine Meinung: Da ich ein absolutes Marissa-Meyer-Fangirl bin, war es für mich klar, dieses Buch muss ich lesen, doch das es so gut wird, damit hätte ich tatsächlich nach den Luna-Chroniken nicht gerechnet. Über den total krassen wie super süßen wie auch actionreichen Schreibstil sage ich nicht mehr viel, denn ich finde ihn richtig klasse. Aber auch die Charaktere sind wieder so toll in Szene gesetzt. Daraus kann wahrlich wieder eine Crew der Superlative entstehen, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Nova und Adrian sind vor allem so süß zusammen, jedoch entwickelt sich die Liebesgeschichte nicht so, wie der Leser es vielleicht gerne hätte, denn am Ende wird man doch recht auf die Folter gesponnen. Trotzdem finde ich es gut, dass beweist einmal mehr, dass die Autorin doch realistische Liebesgeschichten schreiben kann, die sich langsam entwickeln. Auch die vielen Superkräfte und die Vielzahl an besonderen daran ist bemerkenswert und wirklich mega interessant. Da fragt man sich doch, was seine eigene Superkraft wäre? Wobei das auch wieder traurig ist, denn der Grund für das Ausbrechen dieser ist dann doch nicht so toll. Ein traumatisches Erlebnis ist der Schlüssel, der doch eher grausam ist, auch wenn ihn eventuell viele erleben, auf die ein oder andere Art. Das macht diese Facette der Geschichte aber nicht weniger gut, denn dadurch wird sie umso spannender. Ich kann diese Autorin nur immer wieder loben. Sie verpackt so viele wichtigen Themen in einer, wahrscheinlich für einige, simplen Geschichten, dass ich wirklich staunen muss. Egal, ob LGTBQ oder Rassismus, sie verpackt diese Themen so, als wären sie die selbstverständlichste Sache der Welt, was es zugegebenermaßen ja eigentlich auch sein sollte. Es ist einfach immer wieder faszinierend, dass sie mich in eine andere Welt eintauchen lässt und mir noch viel, viel mehr dabei mitgibt, als bloß eine klassische Unterhaltung. Dafür bewundere ich diese Frau tatsächlich unfassbar. Fazit: Man hat es gemerkt, oder? Ich komme aus dem Schwärmen gar nicht mehr heraus und das zu Recht, wie ich finde. Marissa Meyer hat weiß Gott noch sehr viel mehr Aufmerksamkeit nötig als sie bereits besitzt, denn ihre Geschichten reißen mich immer wieder mit. Deshalb kann es für mich für „Renegades“ von Marissa Meyer auch nur eine Bewertung geben, die sich richtig anfühlt und das sind 5 Sterne. Sie hat es einfach wieder geschafft, mich so richtig zu begeistern und ich bin so gespannt, wie diese Reihe weitergehen wird, denn ich sage nur so viel voraus: Nach diesem Ende muss man wissen, wie es weitergeht!

I LOVED IT. The beginning was very fast and hard to get into, but the more I got to know the characters, the more I started to love them. The book has some turns, and the ending is a really shocker. While the book covers many dark topics (murder, violence, oppression), it still manages to be fun and "light" at the right parts. It also has very diverse characters (Nova is half-filipino, Adrian has two dads), and there is some romance but not that much, and it's more of a slow burn. Plus, this book focuses on the concept of anarchy - which I have never seen in any dystopian books yet, even though I have read so many of them. Superheroes: we have seen many of them and I am a fan of Marvel myself. BUT these heroes in here are unique, and I feel like writing something really unique is getting harder and harder these days with so many new books coming out. But Marissa Meyer once again made me addicted to a book series. Yes, a series. Because there are two more books coming out soon/ are already out and I AM HOOKED.

Wow! Ein neuer Marissa Meyer Roman! Als ich das gesehen habe, habe ich mich riesig gefreut. Ich habe alle vorherigen Bücher (die Luna-Chroniken) von Marissa Meyer gelesen und die Bände wirklich geliebt. Deshalb war ich sehr froh, als ein neues Buch von ihr rauskam. Als ich das Buch „Renegades“ in die Hand genommen habe, musste ich sofort anfangen es zu lesen. Das Buch handelt von Superhelden und Schurken. Und ich muss sagen, das sagt eigentlich schon alles. Die Geschichte spielt in einer Zukunft, in der die Superhelden sehr präsent sind und natürlich gegen die Schurken sind. Sowohl die Superhelden als auch die Schurken haben Fähigkeiten, die mich total beeindruckt haben. Sehr schön fand ich, dass die wichtigsten Personen mit ihren Fähigkeiten vorne im Buch vermerkt sind und der Leser direkt nachlesen kann, wer welche Fähigkeit hat und ob er ein Superheld oder ein Schurke ist. Das macht das Lesen auch viel leichter. Obwohl schon der Schreibstil von Marissa Meyer sehr flüssig ist und sich das Buch dadurch schnell lesen ließ. Als ich angefangen habe, das Buch zu lesen, konnte ich nicht so schnell aufhören und musste einfach weiterlesen. Es war bereits von der ersten Seite an so spannend. Und das schöne war, dass es auch dabei blieb. Die gesamten Charaktere wurden von Marissa Meyer so toll ausgearbeitet, dass sie alle einfach authentisch auf mich wirkten. Ich habe alle Charaktere ins Herz schließen können. Und alle waren so einzigartig und hatten alle etwas Besonderes an sich. Im Vordergrund der ganzen Geschichte steht Nova. Sie gehört zu den Schurken und hat eine große Abneigung gegen die Superhelden. Und das hat auch einen bestimmten Grund. Und das zieht sich natürlich durch die ganze Geschichte. Nova ist eine starke Protagonistin, die ihren eigenen Weg geht und sich auch nicht einfach etwas sagen lässt. Sie hat ihren eigenen Kopf und geht notfalls durch alle Wände. Dennoch mochte ich sie sehr. Sie hatte eine lockere und leichte Art und dennoch war sie sehr humorvoll. Aber auf der anderen Seite auch sensibel und zwischenzeitig auch nachdenklich. Denn sie fängt bald an, ihr gesamtes Handeln zu hinterfragen. Und das hat einen Grund: Adrian. Er ist ein Superheld. Hat aber auch gleichzeitig ein Geheimnis. Er ist der Anführer seines Teams und achtet sehr auf seine Teammitglieder. Adrian ist ein liebevoller und auch starker Charakter. Er ist zudem sehr ehrgeizig und versucht stets in allem besser zu werden. Eine besondere Beziehung hat er zu Max. Er kümmert sich stets um ihn und leistet ihm auch Gesellschaft so oft er kann. Und das fand ich so toll an Adrian. Und natürlich darf die Liebe bei Marissa Meyer nicht fehlen. Diese ist aber nicht so wie in anderen Liebesromanen. Marissa Meyers Liebe ist immer so leicht und zart aber vor allem langsam und leise. Und das liebe ich an ihren Geschichten. Es geht alles etwas langsam voran mit vielen Emotionen. Und genau so ist auch die Liebe zwischen Nova und Adrian. Dort wird nichts überstürzt. Alles braucht seine Zeit bei Marissa Meyer. Aber das Ende des Buches fand ich für meinen Geschmack etwas vorhersehbar. Ich habe schon genau damit gerechnet. Da hätte ich mich über einen anderen Cliffhanger eher gefreut. Aber dennoch fand ich „Renegades“ als Auftakt super. Und ich freue mich sehr auf den zweiten Teil. Ich kann es schon kaum erwarten und hoffe, dass es schnell übersetzt wird und ich es dann in meinen Händen halten kann. Ich liebe die Bücher von Marissa Meyer.

Bewertung des Buchs[⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️]: 1. Charaktere [⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️]: Ich mag Nova. Ihr Charakter ist interessant und stimmig und ihre Gefühle und Gedanken realistisch, auch wenn man ich das Gefühl habe, dass wir es eher mit einem unreliable Narrator zutun haben, auch wenn die Geschichte nicht aus der 1. Person geschrieben ist. Ihr Konflikt sitzt tief und obwohl sie sich immer schwört, Rache zu wollen, tut sie doch vieles, was dem entgegen steht. Das kommt auch aus Adrians Perspektive gut herüber, der sie zwar als schreckhaft und vorsichtig beschreibt, aber doch als nett und freundlich. Sie wäre eine wirklich gute Superheldin, wenn da nicht ihr familiärer Konflikt im Wege stände. Adrian und die anderen Renegades aus der Gruppe gefallen mir. Wie könnte man Adrian auch nicht mögen? Mir gefällt die Beziehung zwischen Nova und ihm jetzt schon. Ich will mehr davon in Teil 2 lesen! Die Anarchisten habe ich mir sehr anders vorgestellt. Bis auf Ingrid scheint keiner wirklich „böse“ zu sein, wie man sich einen Schurken vorstellt. Sie scheinen mehr oder weniger normale Menschen zu sein, die unzufrieden mit dem System sind oder Leid erfahren. Mir gefällt hier sehr gut, dass man sofort erkennt, dass kein Mensch nur gut oder nur schlecht ist. Was den Rat angeht … da scheint nicht alles stimmig zu sein für mich. Die verbergen etwas. Der Tod von Ace … wie die Ära der Anarchie tatsächlich zu Ende gegangen ist … Da stimmt etwas nicht. Nova hat da ja schon paar Hinweise gefunden. Mir gefällt es nicht, wie sie ihre Rollen nutzen, um sich als Machthaber aufzuspielen und dabei offensichtlich nicht mir wahren Informationen an die Öffentlichkeit gehen. Egal wie schlimm es um mein Land steht, ich erwarte, dass meine Regierung mir die Wahrheit sagt und die Geschichte nicht zu ihrem Gunsten verdreht. Aber irgendwie spiegelt das ja auch die reale Welt wieder … 2. Handlung [⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️]: Bis die Handlung an Fahrt aufnimmt dauert es etwas, aber das ist im ersten Band einer Trilogie normal denke ich. Es muss halt viel erklärt werden und der Leser muss in der Welt ankommen. Ich fand das hier aber gut gelöst. Mir war während des Lesens nie langweilig und ich fand es gut, langsam alle Charaktere und alle „Geschichten“ in der Welt zu verstehen. Zwischendurch war auch immer mal Action drin, wodurch auch Spannung aufkam. Ich würde aber nicht sagen, dass die Spannung zum Ende hin immer größer wurde. Die Spannung kam eher in mehreren Wellen, die eben in der Action mündeten. Es gab nicht den einen Moment, der alles verändert hat. Auch wenn das Ende des Buchs doch etwas wichtiger war als die Spannungsmomente davor. 3. Schreibstil [⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️]: Ich mochte den Schreibstil. Es war sehr detailliert und Novas Gedanken und Gefühle waren umfangreich und verständlich, sodass man sich gut in sie hineinversetzen konnte. Auf Adrians Seite gab es etwas weniger Emotion, aber ich denke das war Absicht, weil das Buch doch mehr auf Nova fokussieren soll. Insgesamt war die Art des Schreibens angenehm und problemlos. 4. Gefühl nach dem Fertiglesen [⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️]
