Dinosaur Survial Horror!

Primitive War was an intense read for sure! Not a walk in the Park but full-on fight for survival from start to finish. The dinosaurs are stealthy, vicious and terrifying, but they still feel like animals instead of monsters. The environment is described in great detail, it is easy to be absorbed into this deadly world. The entire book is really strong on human's primal fear of being hunted. There's not a single man walking away unharmed (physically as well as mentally). Even the toughest characters experience terror and fear. The deaths are gory and brutal (I'm still haunted by the Quetzalcoatlus scene 💀). But the events leading up to death are worse. Most deaths could be considered mercy at that point. The story was really good with different fractions of people who are at first focused on fighting their enemies, but eventually everyone is just trying to survive in this deadly jungle. It's set during the Vietnam War, so there is the according propaganda and prejudice from various characters, but it is written well and appropriate to the time. One would think this is just about dinosaurs tearing people apart. But at its core, Primitive War is about the recklesness and greed of men, and their relentless search for weapons of mass destruction, with little thought for the consequences. I'm not a fan of military stories, but I really enjoyed this one. I'm very excited to see the movie and I'll definitely read the rest of the series. I bought the rest of the series right after I finished this book. I'd definitely recommend this book to everyone looking for a bloody, thrilling and bone-chilling experience. 💀🦖
