3,5⭐ Ein gutes Fantasybuch, was mir aber nicht lange im Gedächtnis bleiben wird... Kate mochte ich eigentlich von Anfang an. Sie ist eine Außenseiterin unter den Menschen, nicht nur da ihr Vater und somit sie auch als Verräter des Königreichs gilt, sonder weil sie "wilde" Magie besitzt. An Kate fand ich ihre Fähigkeit, Lebewesen zu kontrollieren, am spannendsten.... ansonsten ist sie mir eher unspektakulär vorgekommen sowie auch Corwin, Prinz und ehemaliger Freund von Kate. Generell hat mir ein wenig gefehlt, sei es Charaktertiefe, pure Emotionen oder etwas an der Handlung...

I just had the biggest laughing fit in the history of review writing. One of my biggest problems is that in this book so many things just go unmentioned and unexplained int he word building. The drakes and some of the history gets the spotlight but then there were two things that bothered me. Number one was the moon belt Kate received from her friend in the first couple chapters. I legit thought it was some kind of sex toy, what did I know it was jewelled and had apparently something to do with sex and I was like "well this is weird but okay." and on page 322 it was finally explained that it's used for contraception. Like how could that not be explained in one sentence in the beginning. I would have loved not wondering for 322 pages. And then number two, this is the funny part, was the Relay riders. It was never said why they ride. Just that they do and it used to be to deliver messages in the war. But nothing else. And then I read the summary on amazon and there it es. Royal courier service. Why is it so hard to explain stuff in this 500 pages novel? Other than that it took me a really long time to get into this book. And by a really long time I mean like 250 pages. I mostly expect a book to start picking up at like at least page 100. This one moved so slowly in the beginning and I feel like the real story only started 300 pages in. But I think my biggest issue with this book is that it feels like everything had been done before. Probably cause I just read Shadow and Bone. Both of these have environmental magic in some kind of order and a "seductive" evil guy who has lived for ages. It just has loads of very similar themes. Overall I didn't hate this book. It took me a long time to get into it, but in between I did actually enjoy it and care about what happens next. In the end I got a bit bored with everything again, but it's still well written and some of the characters were intriguing enough. I don't think I will read the next book though, unless it somehow finds it's way into my hands. I'm just not into it enough. I think this book could have been at least 200 pages shorter and would have held my attention a lot better then. Or maybe just a little more inventive.
Ich habe schon lange kein Buch mehr gelesen, das so ein auf und ab an "hey das ist gar nicht so schlecht" und "oh mein Gott wann is es vorbei" war. Ich hätte mir gewünscht dass Corwin der Hauptcharakter allein gewesen wäre, Kate war einfach furchtbar. Die letzten 4 Kapitel waren die besten aber dafür 480 Seiten durchzustehen tut halt schon weh :/ also ich werd mir den 2ten Teil nicht holen, so wies momentan aussieht
