Cheris's best hope is to ally with the undead tactician Shuos Jedao. The good news is that Jedao has never lost a battle, and he may be the only one who can figure out how to successfully besiege the fortress. The bad news is that Jedao went mad in his first life and massacred two armies, one of them his own.
As the siege wears on, Cheris must decide how far she can trust Jedao—because she might be his next victim.

I really don't know what to think about this book. It is utterly confusing, I was feeling totally stupid and inattentive while reading the story because I understood so little of what is going on. I kind of liked the story anyway but the way it was presented... oh and now that I read in some reviews that the mathematics presented in the book is just another word for "magic spell", this makes the book a tiny bit easier to understand. Still, I'm utterly confused about this book.
