Although this book started a bit slow without direct connection to the rest of the Heresy, it quickly got pace and ended in an epic fight and with explosions on and on. So if you like action and want to know more about dragons - this book is just right for you. OTOH, it was really nice to read about dedicated to the Mechanicum in 30k, which is really different in comparison to the one from 40k - for obvious reasons though. And like in the previous book, it is great to read the thoughts of the authors and their pleasure to be able to experiment in this universe and to fill gaps.
Though the beginning of this book is a bit slow and introduces a lot of characters, the middle section truly feels like a real adventure. It’s different, unique, and something I thoroughly enjoyed! The subplot is engaging, with great pacing reminiscent of Galaxy in Flames. It’s genuinely a fun read and a book I’ll definitely revisit in the future. Graham McNeill’s writing style is noticeably improving, and that makes me very happy. I can’t wait to see what he writes next!
