Emotional Mysteries with Suspense
Lying about last Summer is about Skye going to a bereavement Camp the Summer after her Sister dies, hoping it will help her move on. But things get creepy when she starts getting Messages from her Sister. The Book hooked me straight away, and I liked that the Story never felt slow or boring because the Mystery behind the Messages was really interesting. I also liked trying to figure out who was behind them and who Skye could actually trust. The topic of grief is handled really well, and the Story shows that everybody deals with loss differently. Overall, it's a really great Book and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes emotional Mysteries with a lot of Suspense.
I‘m so sorry to say it, but I just really did not enjoy this book at all. The writing was okay, but the plot was boring. Towards the end, it got better, but I could predict everything that happened and even the “plot twists” weren’t well done at all. It really wasn’t a page turner (for me at least).:/ I know that this book is a juvenile book, but I have read a lot of good books that were directed to a younger audience. They were gripping and thrilling in comparison to this one here. If I had to, I would recommend this book to teens that are between 13 and 17.
