Wow, this book is such a good thriller! I was hooked from the start and loved the different views you got throughout the story. Especially Leo's view I thought was quite interesting. Also, I didn't really see the big twist coming until shortly before it was revealed and even then I was not a 100% sure about what the outcome would be. However, I thought the ending did feel a little rushed to me because after the big reveal the story was wrapped up pretty quickly. I would have preferred a few more pages at the end. Still, this was definitely a five-star book for me!

Wow, I wouldn’t exactly say it was the best read since it was kinda irritating and hard to understand because of the different years and people, but in the end I did enjoy the story and the twist end

Let me start off by saying that I highly recommend this book. Local Woman Missing kept me guessing, made me frustrated and thoroughly entertained me until the very end. Mary Kubica expertly woven a narrative here that teased, engrossed and bewildered me. Suffice to say, who I saw as the villain shifted every few chapters. This book is jam packed with red herrings but it didn't read as excessive, it just made it more fun. I did guess some stuff early on and I may have spoiled myself a little bit by browsing the chapter POV characters (don't do this) but everything worked so well. A small point of contention is how poorly portrayed the forensic work done by the authorities. But hey, watch a few episodes of Unsolved Mysteries and see that these are unfortunately more common than we think. Anyway, the sheer spontaneity of the events and how they snowballed reminded me of season one of Fargo. This is a good thing as I loved that show. I have read this book while listening to the audiobook. The audiobook's narration is 4/5.

Starting out my 2022 reading year with a bang! I listened to this on audio on my way to and from work, and I really enjoyed the audiobook/the narration of this book! At first, I was a bit hesitant because the first few chapters were NOT what I expected at all, but I am glad I pulled through because in the end, it made sense why these POVs were there, and why the chapters were structured this way. One of my favorite tropes in thrillers is when we have different timelines that at some point come together and make you see the bigger picture. This book did that in a very interesting way! Definitely a good thriller recommendation!

The last twist was terrible.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Mary Kubica is not an author whose work I am familiar with, but having heard great things about her, I was happy for the chance to read Local Woman Missing. What the Story is About Eleven years ago Shelby Tebow, Meredith Dicky and her six-year-old Delilah went missing. The disappearances rattled the community, and everyone wondered at the connection between the two incidents. Searches conducted resulted in more questions, leaving the families of the victims devastated. Eleven years later, Delilah returned after escaping her captors. Due to the horrors she experienced at the hands of her captors, she had difficulty adjusting to her new environment. Everyone’s happy to see her return. However, her brother Leo has difficulty reconciling this Delilah with the one he knew eleven years ago. The questions on everyone’s mind were, 1. What happened to Delilah the day she went missing? 2. What happened to Shelby and Meredith? The story featured an array of relatable characters. Discovering their personality traits from the positive to the negative proved to be an interesting experience. The emotions they each displayed aptly fit the situation in which they are in at the time. Told from multiple POVs and alternate timelines, Local Woman Missing took me on a thrilling and mysterious journey. I did not know where the story would take me, but it made me eager to see where the journey would end. T A few persons appeared to have a connection to disappearances, however it turned out to be someone least expected. I never would have pinpointed that person as a suspect. I loved how the story developed, however the ending came out of left field. With all that had happened throughout the story, I found the ending weak and questionable. Even as I am writing my review I am wondering how is that even possible. Despite this, I enjoyed the story and would definitely read more from this author. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
