Reading this book again as an adult, it makes total sense why it was one of my favourite books as a child. The story is amazing, full of wonderful discoveries and twists and turns and the characters are brave and kind. The language describes the environment so well, you can feel the shift in temperature through the pages and the relationships that are being created between Maia and her friends and the adults who help her are heartwarming. A great story about friendship, finding yourself, going with the flow and seizing each day. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to be carried along into a beautiful world of adventures.
