Alex:
The only thing I’ve ever wanted was to be left alone in my secluded cabin, deep in the woods. I wear my scars as a badge of dishonor to ensure that people will stay away from me. And severe PTSD after years in the Navy just about seals the deal.
And this is how I like it: alone and quiet…
Until a beautiful trouble gets dumped on my doorstep.
Freya:
The only thing I want is to fix my car and get the hell away from Little Hope, where I got stuck thanks to a popped tire and ‘helpful’ locals. Unfortunately, fate-apparently-has other plans for me.
That’s how I find myself at Alex’s doorstep. A local ex-navy recluse, Alex is rude, obnoxious, and scorching as hell with his grumpiness and f-of attitude.
I just want to run from this little town and from this growly man people constantly warn me about. But why does he suddenly feel like home?
They say All Roads Lead to Maine. But do they end there?

This slow-burn, strangers-to-enemies-to-lovers, contemporary romance is a standalone filled with angst, battling the demons of the past, and finding peace. Each book contains a story about a different couple. No cheating. No cliffhangers. HEA.
TW: PTSD, anger issues, mentioning of abusive relationships (for FMC in the past, not from MMC). Strong language and adult situations.
Author's note: this is the newly edited second edition.

Who is Delia Colvin? That was the question I asked myself when I heard about this title. I thought the blurb was interesting and decided I would give it a try. It’s been awhile since I have read a time travel romance. However, if I was to make a comparison I would say that this was the best by far. I am glad I took the chance on Ms. Colvin. The Haunted Heart of Rory O’Dannon tells the story of Megara. She was training to become a ballerina. However, she was robbed of her dream at the hands of a drunken driver. While recuperating from the accident she met a tall, dark, mysterious and handsome stranger. The only problem was she could not tell if he was real or if he was a figment of her imagination. The one thing she knew for sure was that he left an impression on her heart. Realising that she may never see this mysterious stranger again, she moved on with her life. We see her losing her parents, getting married and losing a child. However, things were not going well. Megara was unhappy and her life was bland. She lived her life in a robotic fashion, moving from one day to the next without any purpose. Then the unthinkable happened. She was involved in another accident, which saw her being catapulted into 19th century Ireland. She is now faced with a life of hard work and new challenges. This is a beautiful and haunting story of a love that transcends time. If you were not a believer of destiny and soul mates, after reading this story you may change your mind. Initially the story moved slow, to the point I felt like throwing in the towel. Fortunately, I decided to hold on. Failing to do so would have led to me missing out on an awesome love story. The story held me in its grip and I could not wait to find out what would happen to Rory and Megara. There were so many ways this story could have ended. I pictured quite a few scenarios in my head. However, none came close to the actual ending. I must warn you that this story will tug on your heartstrings, so be prepared for some teary-eyed moments. What I like most about this tale was that it was not easy to figure out if Megara was dreaming or if she actually experienced the events of the 19th century. This was one of those stories that had me questioning what was real from what was a dream. The way the events and characters were portrayed made everything feel real. You will find yourself loving some characters and hating some. I loved the setting. I know I would never be able to visit Ireland and so I am glad that I was able to experience it through the author’s eyes.To conclude this was a beautifully written story of love between two people who are destined to be together. If you love historical and contemporary romance, then you will love this story. If you are looking for a story that will touch your heart, then this one is for you. After reading this title, I now have to go and check out the other books written by this author.I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own.
