This is an arranged marriage trope type book, set in a full fantasy world when elves, humans and trolls cohabit in neighboring kingdoms. Essie is a human princess and she ends up having to marry Farendel, the elven prince in an attempt to unite the two kingdoms and stop the different raidings that have been happening recently on both sides of the border. She isn't really sad about it, the elven kingdom is pretty secretive and Essie has always been fascinated by everything surrounding it. So that is the premise of the book, and the story that follows is basically how Essie settles in a "enemy" territory and within her relationship with Farrendel. This book has awesome world building and charcters. The world is really rich, but it's really well explained, and there aren't really any info dumps, because you kind of discover everything organically along with Essie. I loved Farrendel, who was a really sweet, shy but fierce hero and fit in really well with Essie who's much more extroverted. The issues they had to face were really realistic, I loved that Essie was really talkative to Farrendel's anxious silence. On to the next one!!
