Falling: A Fake Dating College Hockey Romance (North University Book 1)

Simply too long

- Includes spoilers - I had high hopes for this book, to read a cute hockey / figure skating romance where it‘s actually about the story and not the spice and that’s true about the book. But then, still, I just couldn‘t continue after reading about half of it, so I quit. Yes it’s a cute love story, but for this story specifically 500 pages are simply too much and around 150-200 pages less wouldn‘t have hurt. I didn’t quite like how the fake dating aspect was written. Miles is in love from the first second while Wren is constantly repeating the same things in her head about how she isn‘t in love with him while she clearly is and all that before they even think about fake dating. Then I hoped that there would be more scenes actually on the ice. After about almost 300 pages there were like two really short ones in total, I think. It‘s linked to the story yes, but it wasn‘t what I had hoped to read. In general it felt like running in circles and not getting anywhere. This book just wasn‘t something for me.

While the story doesn’t focus on big twists or dramatic plot turns, it instead centers on the chemistry and growing connection between Wren and Miles. Watching their fake relationship slowly turn into something real and full of love is the heart of the novel.

Kleine „grumpy“ Eiskunstläuferin trifft auf Golden Retriever Eishockeyspieler, ein bisschen Fake-Dating dazu und man hat die perfekte Mischung. Auf den ersten 50 Seiten war mir schon klar, dass ich dieses Buch einfach nur lieben werde. Die beiden lernen sich auf einer Party kennen und er ist einfach direkt so hin und weg von ihr, dass er sie unbedingt besser kennenlernen will - wir lieben Miles. Seine ganze Art ist einfach nur sooooo toll. Wie er immer versucht sie zum Lachen zu bringen, von ihr schwärmt, sich nicht wegstoßen lässt von ihr - ahhhh ich liebe ihn wirklich. Wren ist aber mit ihrer Art auch einfach zu genial geschrieben gewesen und die Gespräche zwischen den beiden waren einfach sooo herrlich. Die Freundschaft zwischen ihr und den Mädels ist auch einfach nur toll, wenn man bedenkt, dass 3er Gruppen normalerweise nicht funktionieren. Hier hat es aber einfach perfekt gepasst und ich hoffe soooooo sehr auf ein weiteres Buch.

I really liked the book it was cute and all and I really really loved the characters they were just so perfect in my eyes I love them so much especially Miles I have a thing for mmc's like him it's just my favorite type. But Wren too she was just so sweet but in a way that's not really openly sweet but more in a way to only people you like and that is just such a thing I can relate too so well because that's literally me. I loved their story too and they were so cute together as well I just loved it. I love every aspect of this but I just didn'T get the 5 star feeling but the book itself was so good and I lowkey wanna say angelic because I say this to everything these last few days but I don'T really think that it would fit. But all in all I just really really loved this book. I also think that it took me too long to read for it to be 5 stars because I was in a bit of a slump but maybe I'll re-read it someday and it'll me better because I really loved it. Also my obsession with hockey romances right now is lowkey concerning but they're just too good.

so cute, it was so fun reading this. i love miles, absolutely adore him. wren is amazing too!! i really hope scarlett will get the next book though or kennedy, honestly im fine with either but the -0.5 star is because im so bummed it wasn’t properly addressed what had happened to carter and what had happened between gus and wren at nationals. that kinda annoyed me

I was into the idea of it, but it was very cringe at the end of the day. Much potential but not very well executed! 🥺
