Probably my favourite best friends to lovers story!
All the pining, idiots in love, completely clueless MCs, but in SUCH a cute and not at all bothering way. I was excited af when I saw the ARC in my inbox, because the first two books of the Chicago Thunder Hockey series already belong to my favourite hockey books of all time - and this one was no different. Jodi has a style of writing that really sucks you in, gives you all the feels (I've already cried twice before I got to 20%) and is so damn cozy. The Thunder boys all are so unique and really act as the most gorgeous side characters - and I'll always enjoy a queer sports romance where being queer is totally accepted. To the romantic development itself: I've loved Zach (and his love for cupcakes) already in the last books, so I'm so glad he finally got his HEA with the guy he's been pining for (literally) forever. Carter also surprised me - I usually am quite critical towards characters, who "suddenly" discover they're queer and in love with someone who's been directly in front of their eyes for years, but Carter's discovery feels really natural (on a sidenote, I somehow would have enjoyed (theoretically!) some kind of internalised homophobia to be the reason for his repression, but I know this isn't part of the queerpositive world Jodi is (thankfully) creating. But it might have brought a bit of a background reasoning for some thoughts and acts.). He also is a gorgeous soul & might be one of my go to book boyfriends. This ending?! This EPILOGUE?! Jodi, you've got my heart and I'd love to read more of your stories in the future. You're definitely part of my "I'll read anything/instant buy"-list ❤️
