bookclub FemPhil pick nr 4! and i regret that this wasn‘t the first book we‘ve read. i don‘t even have the energy anymore to talk about how monumental this book is, since i already told my whole surroundings about it. it explains SO much: why we have misogyny today, where the slutshaming etc comes from, what the witchtrial really was about and why it is connected to today, what capitalism has to do with it etc. it was probably the book i learned the most valuable lessons from: e.g that women were not inferior before capitalism? that they were doctors and beer-makers etc. that witches were old and poor women, since they had the most knowledge and resisted the most. idk man. sometimes while reading it, i got a sad mood for the rest of the day. no men resisted against their wifes/daughters being burned???? ugh. but all in all: go read it IMMEDIATELY. it‘s the most important book you‘ll read. i regret not having read it sooner. and: it weren‘t witches who were burnt, it were women.
