I got her fired. Okay, so I'd had a bad day and took it out on a bystander in a pizza shop. But there's nothing demure about Ally Morales. She proves that her first day of her new job...which just happens to be in my office....And I can't fire her, because it's my mother the CEO who hired her...technically, Ally doesn't work for me, and she makes it clear she doesn't have to listen to me either.
So maybe her colorful, annoying, inexplicably alluring personality brightens up the magazine's offices that have felt like a prison for the past year. Maybe I like that she argues with me in front of the editorial staff. And maybe my after-hours fantasies are haunted by those brown eyes and that sharp tongue.
But that doesn't mean that I'm going to be the next Russo man to take advantage of his position. I might be a second-generation asshole, but I am not my father.
She's working herself to death at half a dozen dead-end jobs for some secret reason she doesn't feel like sharing with me. And I'm going to fix it all. Don't accuse me of caring. She's nothing more than a puzzle to be solved. If I can get her to quit working here, I can finally peel away all those layers. Then I can go back to salvaging the family name and forget all about the dancing, beer-slinging brunette.

When Dominic Russo comes into the pizza place where Ally Morales works and proceeds to get her fired the last thing she expects is his mom to offer her a job at their family magazine. Ally’s family and financial situation means she’s not in a place to say no, but when she’s assigned to be Dominic’s personal assistant she seriously considers it. Their office banter turns into an office romance leaving Dominic in fear that he’s turning into his father and Ally worried about letting someone see how much she’s struggling.
Okay so, I think I’m going to give this book 5 stars. To be honest I can’t even decide between 4.5 and 5. Anywayyy the first books I read by Lucy Score were the Knockemout Series (ps: I absolutely LOVED it !!) and this book didn’t disappoint me either. I like her writing style. There will be spoilers in this review ‼️. Let’s start with Ally, she’s trying her best to survive with several Jobs. Her father has Dementia and is in a home. (Sadly he dies after the big time skip ☹️.) I like her character, she’s stubborn and doesn’t let herself get dragged down by anything or anyone. Dominic is the heir to the label magazine and a serious dude. From their first encounter, they had a chemistry. Hate at first sight but they both felt the attraction. I loved Dalessandra (Dominic’s mother) she’s such an icon! Dominic’s Father (Paul Russo) was annoying as fuck. He got what he deserved and went to jail lmao !!! Idk why but I liked Christian (that Designer) and Faith (Ally’s bff) they made a good couple hahah. Can I just say that I found that whole pizza situation they had going on unbelievably sweet 😭😭. They started their journey with a pepperoni pizza that spelled 'FU' and finally got together with an ' I ❤️ you' pepperoni pizza HWHAHA. It was so cute how Dominic got everything for her even if she didn’t want it (piano, the renovation of Ally’s Family house, the food & drinks for the admins at work, her phone and laptop,the bills for her fathers home, the physical therapist for Buddy (Allys Workbuddy ? Idk how to explain their relationship LMAO), the new house for their family, diamond ring and so much more 😭‼️) LIKE BRO ??. And yes Dominic was kind of shitty when he accused her of using him etc but the emails he send her everyday just melted my heart😞. So happy they got their happy ending !! Two dogs (Brownie & Cookie), Kids, a big house, and so many connections with great people and family. The end tho 🫣🫣. So yeah, there was quite a lot of smut so if it isn’t for you don’t read it but overall I would very much recommend it to other people ((: .
That was one hell of an addictive read. This was my first book by Lucy Score but damn definitely not my last. Her writing is amazing. Really addictive and captivating. I devoured this book. I loved Ally and Dominic. I’m weak for a good workplace romance and therefore went in with high expectations and it did not disappoint. Their love story develops beautiful even though I personally would have enjoyed an even longer slow burn part. They gave in pretty quickly but this didn’t cause the storyline to suffer. Just a personal preference. Ally was adorably amazing. Dom is dominating my mind. [ you see what I did there? Great] Fantastic leads that make you want to never let them go again. They captivate you and you are eager for every piece of interaction and dialogue they offer you. My only critique is how the end conflict and how it was executed. The conflict itself felt a little unreasonable to cause that much. And the resolve then felt rushed. It didn’t really feel like a solution to me. They never talked it out. They suffered and then magically everything was great again. I actually would have appreciated an either more in-depth resolve that involves more of the companies problems and all of this stuff instead then just the email part. It was cute, not denying this, but the Paul Russo storyline wasn’t done it’s justice in the end I believe. It was just mentioned along the sidelines. I think a better way would have been just to focus on this problem and let them face it together instead of having to hotspots at the same time - ofc you can’t do both in a satisfying way which is disappointing for the reader then. Focus on the one. It gives enough drama. I’m also a strong believer in - the obstacle to overcome at the end of a book that keeps the excitement does not always have to mean breaking up the couple. Let them get through it together as a united force. This storyline here practically screams the opportunity to do this. Honorable mention of the side characters. They slayed. Every one of them. Faith and Christian - I need your book. Is it exciting? Is it in the works? GIVE IT TO ME. but also Ally’s other friends, her neighbors, her dad and the nurses. Adorable everyone of them. This book was fairly amazing. I really enjoyed reading it and loved the characters and everything about it. Change the ending like I suggested and it would be a five star rating for me. But someone else maybe appreciates it how it is. For perfection in my eyes: change the ending and maybe some of Domenics actions and you’re there. Nevertheless a must read for all my workplace-romance whores. You will love this book, I can assure you that much. It has some flaws but the overall performance surpasses every flaw there might be. 4

Omg this was so addicting, exactly the grumpy sunshine office romance I've been looking for. First ever reading a Lucy Score book and ot did NOT dissapoint. <spoiler> I kid you not, the banter in this book alone is 10/10. The back and forth, the hate, the anger from these characters to each other were burning through the pages. I freaking love it. Ally is a freaking diamond star fmc. Single handedly the best fmc I've ever read in a contemporary romance. Not once was annoyed with her, always had her back 100% of the time. Everything she did and thought made all the sense in the world. Freaking Russo. He's hot. His banter is hot. His attention is hot. His care towards Ally is hot. His work ethic is hot. Everything about him just screams hotness, lol. Hands down my most beloved tropes in one single book. </spoiler>
