In 1792, the English missionary to India William Carey wrote a famous mission diary which changed the history of mission and which not only transformed his himself from a cobbler to a professor in Indian languages but also carved his way to become the “father of protestant mission”. The renowned mission scholar and historian Thomas Schirrmacher predominately investigates the theological motives behind Carey’s dealings. He discovers a foundational difference in the theology which led to a breakthrough in world mission.
