    Hätte mehr Potential gehabt.

    Grundsätzlich hat mir das Buch sehr gut gefallen und ich mochte den Ansatz, den Krieg um Troja und auch die Geschehenisse danach aus der Sicht der Frauen zu erzählen. Leider wirkte vieles dabei jedoch sehr trocken, was ziemlich schade ist, denn die Frauen haben an sich ziemlich viel zu erzählen und haben viel durchmachen müssen. Tatsächlich erfindet die Autorin das Rad hier nicht neu, was ihr als studierte Altphilologin eigentlich bekannt sein sollte. Bspw Euripides und Aristophanes haben ganze Theaterstücke aus Sicht antiker Frauenfiguren geschrieben und erfreuten sich damit sehr großer Beliebtheit. Wer im Thema Ilias, Odyssee und griechische Mythologie noch nicht so drin ist und Lust auf eine Sammlung aus Kurzgeschichten und sehr kurzen Kapiteln hat, um in die Thematik mal reinzuschnuppern, ist hier gut aufgehoben. Wer jedoch eine zusammenhängende Erzählungen mit Tiefgang erhofft und mit der Thematik vertraut ist, wird eher enttäuscht sein.

    Beautiful. What else can I say? Softly teaching these stories, I did not expect to be touched this deeply by. Although that is not completely true. Some of these stories I am reading again and again and at no point did they stop evoking emotions. But I guess it is the softness of the sorrow I was overcome with that startled me. So unusual between the storming thoughts usually evicted by tales of other heroes. With all the dimensions the story-telling covers this really shouldn’t have snuck up on me like it did, but I sm glad it did.

    Just a re-telling of the Troy story. I enjoyed this more than Silence of the Girls, the letter format dedicated to Penelope's chapters was pretty entertaining, I enjoyed her perspective quite a bit. The book was hard to read at times, as can be expected with the horrible fates of most of the trojan women. The most pitiful character, in my opinion, is Cassandra but I did find her and Clymenestra's ending somewhat satisfying. All in all, a very nostalgic reading experience, reminding me of my high school days reading a greek mythology story collection.
