Love in Focus war insgesamt ein solides Buch mit einigen Stärken, aber auch deutlichen Schwächen. Gemma mochte ich sehr, ihre Struggles waren nachvollziehbar und ihr Character Arc gut ausgearbeitet. Dass der Großteil des Buches aus ihrer Ich-Perspektive erzählt wurde, hat gut funktioniert und mich in ihre Gefühlswelt mitgenommen. Mit Celeste konnte ich dagegen wenig anfangen. Ich fand sie unsympathisch und viele ihrer Entscheidungen schwer nachvollziehbar. Auch die Perspektivwechsel zu ihr, die in der dritten Person geschrieben waren, wirkten für mich unpassend und stilistisch nicht gut umgesetzt. Positiv hervorzuheben sind der leichte, angenehme Schreibstil, die gute Repräsentation und die sapphic Love Story. Auch die Handlung rund um den Artikel und das Magazin hat der Geschichte Struktur gegeben. Die Nebencharaktere waren zwar etwas stereotypisch, wirkten aber dennoch realistisch. Insgesamt fehlte mir jedoch Spannung und emotionale Tiefe, vieles fühlte sich etwas oberflächlich an. Trotzdem ein gut lesbares Buch, das vor allem durch Gemmas Perspektive getragen wird.
Second-Chance Romance mit Protas in den Endzwanzigern und mit koreanischen Wurzeln, sehr cute geschrieben, mit vielen koreanischen Leckereien. Hat als ernstes Thema Akzeptanz der Elternteile in einer anderen Kultur, wichtige Korea-Rep. Lässt sich schnell weglesen und könnte Fans von Delilah Green gefallen. Spice-Level 1,5/5
