Once a spy for the ruthless King Illian, Vasalie sacrificed herself to kill him and prevent a prophesied war. But Illian's brother, Anton--the king she allied with and began to love--struck a deal with Moranya, the goddess of the underworld, to bring Vasalie back. The cost: his compassion, his memories of her, and all the events of the past six weeks.
Now stripped of the truth, Anton believes his friends betrayed him and accepts Moranya's offer to rule the kingdom of the dead. But with the kingdom he leaves behind on the brink of civil war, and her cruel father threatening to invade, Vasalie realizes only Anton can reunite a fractured realm.
To save her world and the man she was coming to love, Vasalie must journey to the underworld and reclaim him. But the Anton she finds is the worst version of himself: the arrogant, debauched king she once thought he was. To restore him, she'll have to restore his memories first... even if it means sacrificing her own heart.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for a free e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review I was lucky enough to read an arc of A Dance of Lies last year, so when I was accepted for this I was so excited! And the book lived up to my expectations. To Dance with Death is a sensual, emotional book of love, loss, life and death and I thoroughly enjoyed myself reading it. Vasalie is such an interesting character to follow, and very inspiring; her character arc and strength is simply phenomenal. I also enjoyed Anton’s journey a lot, even if the memory loss trope isn’t my favorite (but that’s on me for picking up the book I guess, and it was handled well in this book) I will say, the book has a slow build, and given my lack of time while reading it, that made it feel a little like it dragged on, and I can’t tell if it is the book’s fault or simply the timing of me reading it on my side. Overall, a great ending to a great doulogy that leaves the important questions answered. I’d definitely recommend this series for romantasy lovers. 4.25/5
3,5* The cover is so gorgeous! And this book includes a recap of part one? I loved that! The vibe here is totally different to the first part, though. Finally, there are more fantastic elements, but it's still subtle, the world-building isn't super deep, and to be honest, the middle dragged a bit. I missed the spark from part one. That one felt so fresh and special but this one kind of feels a bit messy and chaotic. But the slow-burn tension is there and I really loved that! In total, I kept wishing for more surprises, more magic, more world-building. But the ending was very good, an emotional and satisfying conclusion. Overall, I liked it. It had a lot of good parts, but it's just not as mind-blowing as the first part.
