Fairytale meets twisted Thriller Cassie lives two lifes. In one she meets a fairy named pepper man that follows her through her childhood, drinks her blood and loves her ( in a twisted way). In the other we hear about her life from her therapists view: a life of her parents failing her, a life of her needing to escape in another life, creating another existence to be able to live on. I really enjoyed this book. Fairy magic itself is quite a fascinating concept and i loved to hear about the way fairies used the nature around them for their magic. I also liked that fairies became similar to the beings they drink blood from like foxes. I appreciated the little easter eggs here and there as well like the snippets out of newspapers that made the story more real in a way. Of course this story is a dark one and should have a trigger warning for sexual abuse. It was very interesting to hear how the actual story might have been one that led Cassie creating those creatures to not fall apart.
