this was really great. I loved how the story focused on academical pressure. The characters were amazing and relatable. the author went a little overboard with all the harry potter references, but well :D
The guidance counselor's advice of skipping lunch and taking PE online so he can take more AP classes does not make any sense! Why go to school all day and not eat? And how will he fit in the online PE class? He can't do it in school during his other classes! After school? He already has regular homework, and then the extra from all those extra classes he's taking! In addition, now he needs tutoring for math. His whole day is full. He can't skip dinner since he didn't eat lunch! Clearly, this author is not writing a realistic story. Who in the world would take a Kindle to church and read it during the service? When the parent catches, him isn't she offended? I know it's a Jewish church, but don't Jewish people have respect for their religion? That seems really offensive to me. And if you are so busy you need to do your school homework during church,... wait, I guess I am taking this book too realistically. It's just a novel. There is nothing real about it. Sorry.

this is such a good and underrated book!! didn‘t expect much and it was amazing! i flew through it in pretty much one go, the characters were great, the story was super engaging and in general, it just did everything right. it had an important message, a cute romance, some beautiful friendships and showed the different nuances to being in high school and balancing school stress and life. there’s this unbelievable pressure students put on themselves and the pressure others put on them. reading ariel‘s story, i felt it all. i felt for him, i felt for his friends and sister, i was so happy when he found his place in the end. only reason i‘m not giving it a 5/5 is because i‘m not sure if this story will stay with me for long. however, i’m also just super glad my friend made me read this!!
