NOW A HIT NETFLIX SERIES
A NEW YORK TIMESAND USA TODAY BESTSELLER

“Hypnotic and scary.” —Stephen King

“I am riveted, aghast, aroused, you name it. The rare instance when prose and plot are equally delicious.” —Lena Dunham

From debut author Caroline Kepnes comes You, one of Suspense Magazine’s Best Books of 2014, and a brilliant and terrifying novel for the social media age.

When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card.

There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and she’ll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonight—the perfect place for a “chance” meeting.

As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beck’s life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beck’s perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their way—even if it means murder.

A terrifying exploration of how vulnerable we all are to stalking and manipulation, debut author Caroline Kepnes delivers a razor-sharp novel for our hyper-connected digital age. You is a compulsively readable page-turner that’s being compared to Gone Girl, American Psycho, and Stephen King’s Misery.

I don‘t often say this but: I liked the TV show a lot better. I think the pacing worked way better in the adaptation, in the book it kind of felt off.

I've never read a book like this before. It was impossible to put down and, strangely, even more impossible not to somehow root for Joe. Some chapters dragged a bit, but I still read this in under a day because it was that good. Definitely recommend reading this.

I was prepared that this novel is erotica with some crime elements, so I was disappointed with some aspects of the story as I might have been if I didn't knew these plot points beforehand. I enjoyed it, but at the same time it wasn't thrilling or new or surprising. Sometimes it was even frustrating, since both main characters felt one dimensional and everything they did was so stereotypical. The only one who may not felt like a cardboard-cutout character was Peach, but she also had some characteristics that were simply not good. That being said, I am still interested in reading the sequel and watching the tv show at some point.

Aus der Sicht von Joe Goldberg, des Stalkers, geschrieben. Erschreckend und spannend zugleich, manchmal etwas anstrengend zu lesen.

Okay...So,I wanted this book for a long time and it did not disappoint, writing was good and very flowing like you can actually see it happen in front of you. I really liked Joe from the You series but the real Joe i.e. by kepnes was not a lovable creature, his thoughts were dangerous and his way with stalking and obsessing was not good, I didn't like him at all when I truly knew him. This is the first time I read a book hating the protagonist. And don't even get me started on Beck, she was such a b***h, she didn't love Joe or she didn't love anyone she just wanted everyone to obsess over her. The book ls good in its own fucked up way.

Hörbuch nach einem Drittel abgebrochen, seltsamer Schreibstil, kam gar nicht rein...
