The instant New York Times bestseller, now with exciting new bonus content from Malachiasz's POV!

A girl who can speak to gods must save her people without destroying herself.

A prince in danger must decide who to trust.

A boy with a monstrous secret waits in the wings.

Together, they must assassinate the king and stop the war.

In a centuries-long war where beauty and brutality meet, their three paths entwine in a shadowy world of spilled blood and mysterious saints, where a forbidden romance threatens to tip the scales between dark and light. Wicked Saints is the thrilling start to Emily A. Duncan’s devastatingly Gothic Something Dark and Holy trilogy.

Leider haben die letzten hundert Seiten die Spannung für mich kaputt gemacht. Gefühlt wurde die Story ohne Sinn und Verstand zu sprunghaft zu Ende gebracht. Schade.

A really good story about magic, blood mages and wars between lands. A really good read I thoroughly enjoyed it.

First of all I gotta say I was on many different teams with this book. First I thought it would be a cool story and I liked the cover, so I bought it, when I saw a good deal. Then I read this romance was for everyone who shipped Alina and the Darkling in the Grisha Trilogy and I was like "great, big waste of money for me" cause personally, I didn't ship them and I hate the Darkling. I would love to say I'll stop talking about Grisha stuff now, but overall, this book does have a lot in common with that trilogy, especially when it comes to the basic story of it and the plot twist ending this book has. Leaving it at this for now. There were two POVs in this story, Nadya and Serefin. Nadya was chosen by the Gods and has magic she can use if they let her, while Serefin is the prince of the country hers has been at war with for ages and a blood mage. Serefin's POV was really what had me pull through. Nadya and her dark, broody love interest where of no interest to me. She often lacked agency of her own, although that got better in the end. And he was just..... the usual tortured bad guy throughout it all. Their romance was obvious from the start and I just couldn't get invested in it. The relationships Serefin had with his closest friends was way more intriguing and really what carried the book for me. When the ending got closer, I had really gotten into the plot though. I didn't wanna put the book down for one second. Again, this was like 99% for Serefin and he's also the biggest reason I wanna continue the series and see how everything ends up, but I also found the grim and dark setting and the whole mystery about the god intriguing. Anyway, in conclusion, this is a lot like the Grisha Trilogy, but also quite different at times and overall funny, brutal and gripping. I can definitely recommend it, if you want more Eastern European inspired Fantasy in your life. Or 100% if you liked the Darkling.
