Description

"A beautiful, poised, and thought-provoking debut about love, loss, coming out, and discovering living life on your own terms." —New York Times bestselling author Kathleen Glasgow
There are two things that Corinne Parker knows to be true: that she is in love with Maggie Bailey, the captain of the rival high school's cross-country team and her secret girlfriend of a year, and that she isn't ready for anyone to know she's bisexual.
But then Maggie dies, and Corinne quickly learns that the only thing worse than losing Maggie is being left heartbroken over a relationship no one knows existed. And to make things even more complicated, the only person she can turn to is Elissa—Maggie's ex, and the single person who understands how Corinne is feeling.
As Corinne struggles to make sense of her grief and what she truly wants out of life, she begins to have feelings for the last person she should fall for. But to move forward after losing Maggie, Corinne will have to learn to be honest with the people in her life...starting with herself.

Ein sehr emotionales Buch, dass mich sehr berührt hat

Dieses Buch ist so schön. So schön traurig, so schön emotional, so schön tragisch. Ich liebe die Protagonistin sehr und fand es unfassbar toll zu lesen, wie sie mit der Trauer um ihre Freundin umgeht und wie sie mit all dem Chaos in ihrem Leben umgeht.

I adored this book, and I really appreciated the themes it dealt with. This is a story about a girl who is trying to find her sexuality, and herself, within a world which makes her riddled with self-doubt and anxiety. I could relate to our main character so much since she was really worried about how other people might perceive her, which is why she hides parts of herself in order to please the people around her and not make them uncomfortable. This is something I see myself doing all the time. Additionally, however, this is a story about grief, and about how to live with it and try to not necessarily overcome it, but face it head-on. This was an aspect that I also related to A LOT. I really felt for our main character and everything she went through, and at some points I honestly just wanted to hug her and tell her that everything is going to be okay. One of the best books I have read this year!

First of all: what a gorgeous cover! Yes that’s the reason I picked it up. I really liked the book, especially the structure, how you got to puzzle the pieces together more and more and the main character Corinne. The book is written from her perspective with a lot of attentiveness given to her thoughts and feelings and I just saw so much of my teenager self in that. Fun fact: that author lives in Austria and speaks German! I only realized that after reading their acknowledgments and stumbled across german words and sentences.
