Beschreibung

From the author of Love Unexpected comes an all new age-gap forbidden romance.

Three years ago, Jacob Price walked away.
After a whirlwind steamy affair, my father's best friend broke my heart.
He told me things were too complicated. Messy. Wrong.
That we could never be together.
I knew he loved me but the fear of ruining our family was too great.
With too much at stake, he sacrificed our hearts and ended it.

Now, he's back and he still wants me.
He still loves me.

But now, I'm engaged to another man.

Tropes: – father‘s best friend – age gap (rather large age gap) – new fiancé – second chance – cheating

Q.B. Tyler is my queen of spice and forbidden romance. ‘Love Unexpected‘ was my first book of hers, and it is still my favorite, and it lives rent-free in my head, it set a new standard regarding spice. And the spicy scenes in this book do not disappoint either. However, in my opinion the plot does. There is something I expect in a second chance romance, and that is essential for me to like it, and it is probably one of the reasons ‘What was meant to be‘ disappointed me so much: I‘m talking about the reason why there‘s a second chance needed in the first place, why it did not work out in the past. And I get that he is scared of his best friend‘s reaction, but that‘s an issue in the past as well as the present, so why now? Jacob acting like him leaving for 3 YEARS is not a big deal, and like they should continue like nothing happened feels so off to me. And the fact that it seems like her engagement is the ONLY REASON he is back at the beginning of the story does feel off too. However, regardless of the reason, let‘s talk about Parker, Whitney’s fiancé…I don‘t get why Whitney is with him. I don‘t get it. She comes across as a strong woman. Yes, she was heartbroken because Jacob left, but her being with such a controlling d***head (and not realizing how terrible his behavior is) doesn‘t make sense, and it made me a liiiittle bit mad tbh. It feels a bit like Parker is intentionally being made as unlikeable, so Jacob comes across as the much better option. And the whole Parker-storyline takes too much space. It is prolonged for too long in my opinion. 2/5⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ the spice is good imo

wow. I have no words. This book was exactly what I needed right now. IM OBSESSED. Reading this felt like the best kind of drug. The perfect angsty emotional but also steaming hot romance. Who doesn’t enjoy some little taboo when it’s as delicious as this book? The writing and story just flow so easily. The writing consumes you and without realizing…you already finished the book. And don’t even get me started on the smut in this book that’s just *chef kiss*. Incredibly well written. I believe some of the best I’ve ever read. Amazing book. I can’t think of a single detail I would change. It’s just impeccably written, from the main characters to the pace and story. If you enjoy some parents best friend - forbidden romance - second change romance? Then this book was made for you. Even if you are just the slightest bit intrigued… give it a shot. 5
