Beschreibung

Once, we’d worshipped them as Gods. For nearly 400 years, the Veil has protected us from the Fae of Alfheimr. In their absence, our lives have shifted from decadence and sin to survival and virtue under the guidance of the New Gods. I’ve spent my entire life tending to the gardens next to the boundary between our worlds, drawn to the shimmering magic like a moth to the flame. Then, we died on their swords. All of that changes the day the Veil shatters, unleashing the fae upon our world once again. The magic of faerie marks those of us they mean to take, but the Mist Guard protecting Nothrek will kill us all before they let the fae have us. There’s no choice but to flee everything I’ve ever known, not if I want to live to see my twenty-first birthday as a free woman. Now, they’ll claim what’s theirs. But before they capture me, Caelum saves me from the Wild Hunt. Fae-marked and on the run, he is able to fight back in ways I only dream of. From tentative alliance to all-consuming passion, our bond strengthens as the fae close in and evil lurks ever nearer. With my life on the line, he is everything I shouldn’t dare to want and a distraction I can’t afford. I can’t seem to stay away, not even with something greater on the line.My heart.Author’s This book is intended for readers who are 18 and older. Naja also am Anfang klingt ja alles ganz gut, aber den großen Plottwist hab ich schon lange vermutet und das Buch war irgendwie einfach teilweise langweilig.

Emotional damage 3.0

Couldn't stand caelum the second he was mentioned. Still don't like him. Hoping really hard to have my opinion changed so that I can enjoy the series as I find the setting really interesting. But gods be damned I went through a lot of emotions, especially at the end 😒

This was not terrible, but it definitely wasn't good either. I personally love fae stories, so i am willing to overlook some flaws in a book, but this just had too many. - the nickname "little one" and the aggressive behaviour from Caelum when they have sex is borderline creepy and rapey tbh. - Sometimes the story had like cuts and i couldn't follow the line of what's going on? Like watching a series and suddenly a part of the story is cut and you get thrown in somewhere else? Anyways that was weird writing. Also the wild hunt wasn't explained at all at the beginning, i was very confused. -the "touch her and i kill you"-trope was taken wayy too overboard. How possessive does Caelum want to be? yes. -The big plottwist/ reveal at the end was painfully obvious. You could predict it from almost the very beginning. All in all a okayish book, but definitely too mediocre to continue the series.

I truly adore the idea of the world-setting and how the plot was set in the beginning. I was super excited to see more of the world and slowly explore it together with the mc but sadly we didn’t see that much of it. I kind of wished for more. But I’m excited where the series will take us in the next book because the potential definitely is there and I’m sure this was just the opening! Caelum was my new love the second we met him. Exactly the blue print I am weak for in a love interest and I loved him the first half of the book. I enjoyed the teasing even though I was a bit put off by the fact that he seemed to be in love from second one. That alone was suspicious. But over the time he slowly developed from smoking hot love interest to slightly obsessive creep at times. I now realized despite my deep love for enemies to lovers I would love the second book to be lovers to enemies when Estrella realizes the toxic traits their relationship had from the beginning and that maybe the love she felt for him was nothing else than him being her savior. She was never in love with Caelum but rather with the idea of him as her guardian when everyone else left her alone. The one person left that protected her when she wasn’t able to do so herself. And after that ending I really hope we get to see this instead of an redemption arc for him. I really liked Estrella! And I want this for her. To find a true love in a partner who teaches her how to fly rather than cut her wings like Caelum does. Even though she slowly grew into the kind of female mc typical for fantasy romances I like her! She isn’t that unique among her fellow heroines from this genre but I have a soft stop for them so it isn’t really something that bothered me. And she deserves better! She doesn’t shy away from facing ugly truth and is so strong despite her past! And I also have to say that I somehow stopped enjoying the plot after a while. The beginning was super intriguing and I was curious where the story is going for and I was still enjoying it when Caelum came into picture. But after a while there was no development. It was only the two of them endlessly strolling through the woods and their conversations. That was entertaining at first - especially since I was quite enchanted by Caelum back then as I already mentioned - but it became repetitive quite fast. But even later on when they joined the Resistance the plot didn’t become interesting again. This whole sequence was a bit weird. I disliked the whole setting there and I don’t really know why. And ofc this was the time when Caelum slowly became more and more of a creep and instead of fainting my most reactions to anything he did was: YIKES And the ending was the cherry on top. I must admit it was no surprise for me. I expected exactly that to happen from the beginning. But I’m curious to see how we will continue in the next book and what the author decides to do with Estrella and Caelum. I strongly pray for a new love interest for her. Give us the Tamlin-Rhysand-plottwist we deserve! But despite all my criticism I must say that it is truly written great and the characters where portrayed perfectly! Simply Caelums character development was magnificently done! I didn’t see his development coming but rather realized it when it had already happened! And Estrella too made some serious growth! And their tension and banter was over the top good! The sparks where flying wild between them! And the spice didn’t disappoint either! Their romance really excited me and I had high hopes until Caelum decided to be a feral obsessive creep hahahahha I really hope we will see more of the world in the next book and Estrella gets her well deserved new love interest! Despite me not being in love with the first book I will definitely continue this series! It has big potential to become something really great!! 3.75

i wish i could say something against it, but i just can't

this was one of the best fantasy books i’ve ever read. you should definitely read this if you love 🗡️ sassy fmc‘s and obsessive, overprotective mmc‘s 🗡️ banter. a lot of banter. 🗡️ spice. a lot of spice. 🗡️ fae‘s 🗡️ fated mates and magic 🗡️ a unique worldbuilding and a backgroundstory i’ve never ever read anywhere in any book before 🗡️ caelum who calls you „little one“ or „my star“ whenever he’s talking to you. okay, back to business. this book was simply amazing. i kind of smelled the plottwist from like half the book. did it bother me? absolutely not, because it was as amazing as i imagined.
