Beschreibung

The second book in the internationally bestselling series that inspired the Fox TV show.
Welcome to Wayward Pines, population 461. Nestled amid picture-perfect mountains, the idyllic town is a modern-day Eden…except for the electrified fence and razor wire, snipers scoping everything 24/7, and the relentless surveillance tracking each word and gesture.
None of the residents know how they got here. They are told where to work, how to live, and who to marry. Some believe they are dead. Others think they’re trapped in an unfathomable experiment. Everyone secretly dreams of leaving, but those who dare face a terrifying surprise.
Ethan Burke has seen the world beyond. He’s sheriff, and one of the few who knows the truth―Wayward Pines isn’t just a town. And what lies on the other side of the fence is a nightmare beyond anyone’s imagining.

This was so much better than the first installment. Blake Crouch finally understood that tension cannot be raised by action, but by conflicts, and those were included perfectly in this second volume of the Wayward Pines series. His writing style still does nothing to invest the reader with this story - it is the outstanding plot which is able to raise the reader's interest. His short sentences are even more exhausting in this book than in the first Wayward Pines book; and while it's usually always a good thing to write paratactically, it shouldn't be as overused as it is here. The plot was exciting. It did not underwhelm or disappoint at any point of the storyline, was very well-developed and forced the reader to turn every page. The translation into German (I didn't read this in English as previously planned, since my local book store only offered the German versions) was bad and poorly executed. Apart from several grammar mistakes, this translation even had a lot of orthographic slips which made it hard to enjoy the read. Overall, it was a lot better than "Pines", but - in my opinion - still not worthy of four stars. Let's say 3.5, and the last one had something between 2.9-3.0.

Funktioniert genauso gut wie das erste Buch und lässt sich noch besser weglesen?!

Very entertaining! The main story line of this book was actually quite different from the TV show, but I like that they were different. It kept an air of mystery to the book to where I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next, even though I knew what happened on the show. Definitely a page-turner! I recommend it! :-)
