Beschreibung

From Rob Thomas, the creator of the television series and movie phenomenon Veronica Mars, comes the first book in a thrilling mystery series that picks up where the feature film left off.

Ten years after graduating from high school in Neptune, California, Veronica Mars is back in the land of sun, sand, crime, and corruption. She’s traded in her law degree for her old private investigating license, struggling to keep Mars Investigations afloat on the scant cash earned by catching cheating spouses until she can score her first big case.

Now it’s spring break, and college students descend on Neptune, transforming the beaches and boardwalks into a frenzied, week-long rave. When a girl disappears from a party, Veronica is called in to investigate. But this is no simple missing person’s case; the house the girl vanished from belongs to a man with serious criminal ties, and soon Veronica is plunged into a dangerous underworld of drugs and organized crime. And when a major break in the investigation has a shocking connection to Veronica’s past, the case hits closer to home than she ever imagined.

In Veronica Mars, Rob Thomas has created a groundbreaking female detective who’s part Phillip Marlowe, part Nancy Drew, and all snark. With its sharp plot and clever twists, The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line will keep you guessing until the very last page.

Solid case, it was just like watching another Veronica Mars movie. Her character was depicted very good, it would have been great to give the minor characters a bit of spotlight aswell. The plot was solid, too. Hope there'll be a couple more VM books :)

Veronica Mars. Sigh. There was never a movie in this world I got as excited about as I did about the Veronica Mars movie this year. And it was awesome and so is this book. Which is not to say that both couldn’t have been better, but at least fans weren’t disappointed (How I Met Your Mother, anyone?). Biggest disappointment about the book: not enough Logan! And on that side note: way too much description. But I understand how that is supposed to help people who don’t know Veronica Mars. As long as that gets a lot of people to read these books, and that means more books for us, than I’m okay with it. I skipped past those lines and they didn’t bother me too much. I would have also loved to read a different POV. We are all inside Veronica’s head, but not really. I could hear Kristen Bell’s voice in the back of my head, the one from the Veronica voice overs in the TV show, but it didn’t really fit with the 3rd person story teller in the book. It took a bit of getting used to. And the cover… I get that this is what mystery novels looked like back in the day, I know what they are getting at. But they could have made a bit more of an effort, e.g. like the Stephen King novel ‘Joyland’. “There weren’t many people in this world who would let you be vulnerable and still believe you were strong.” Now, I know I’m complaining a lot, but it’s not what it looks like. The mystery is great, whether you’re a Veronica Mars fan or not, you’re going to enjoy reading this, and catch yourself guessing and making false assumptions. It was a fun read, especially continuing on from the movie, and I hope there will be many more books in the series, with a little more Logan on top, please!?

3.5 stars, enjoyed it like I enjoyed watching the show. Kristen Bell did a great job reading the book, too.

4,5 stars. This book was like a Veronica Mars Episode just in my head and I loved it. I'm really looking for [b:Mr. Kiss and Tell|21437200|Mr. Kiss and Tell (Veronica Mars #2)|Rob Thomas|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1405566768s/21437200.jpg|40747882].
