This was an absolute banger of an audiobook! First I was sceptical with the main character, but soon you will fall in love with all of them. Vera is an old, chinese woman, her husband already died and her son is out and about. She has her own tea shop. Everything is fine until she finds a dead man in her shop. She is convinced that this was murder, but the police does think differently, so she decides to take the case into her own hands. With that, a lot of new people come into her life. The way how the people interact, the conversations and ALL THE EMOTIONS omg It is just wholesome and so human. Funny but also mysterious. A cozy lovely mystery. Perfect for autumn
Mega witzig und spannend bis zum Schluss
Vera muss man einfach lieben Ich kann das englische Hörbuch sehr empfehlen, das hat das leseerlebnis nochmal getoppt! 😆👍🏻
dnf after 20% this not witty this is petty and dumb. no character I meet in these pages is likeable or funnily unlikeable. The main character is so infuriating noisy and full of herself, I asked myself what is wrong with her or myself. I am now debating if I ever will want to read any book of this author.
This book was absolutely wholesome yet a little hurtful to read at the same time. My absolute favorite part about the book is definitely how all of them found each other. And that way became a little family. They all started out in a pretty dark place in their life, hopeless and stuck. However something as "tragic" as Marshall's death led to something so positive. I found it so interesting to get to know these characters better and experience, how they got their life back together. In which Vera actually played a not so irrelevant part. Making sure everybody's well fed of course, while also kind of forcing them to spend time together over and over again . The murder - mystery aspect made the book even more enjoyable to read and I honestly did not expect the end at all!
Dramedy with a decent mystery, thin line between comical and stereotypical, entertaining but predictable.
“People always say that your wedding day is the happiest day of your life, but honestly, people should try solving murders more often.” “If only every bad thing in life could be removed just by mopping it away.” “You been standing there for exactly four minutes. I think this unusual behavior, even for a millennial.” “Does that sound ridiculous?” “Yes. But that’s okay, I do a lot of crazy things too.”
writing style a little too repetitive for my taste, the audio book was very well performed/read if it wasn't for the audio experience i would have DNF'd because the plot just wasn't very engaging to me and I wasn't invested in any of the characters
An easy to read, cute little murder mystery book. The whole group of characters really grew close to my heart at the end of the book.
