3.5 ⭐️ The continuation of Maia's adventure didn't capture me as much as the first part did. The story felt lenghty and a lot of it was about repetitive thoughts and fears Maia had regarding her development. Unfortunately, as Edan is not present for a significant amount of time, the relationship between Maia and Eden felt like it barely evolved. Speaking of other characters, I liked Ammi and Master Longhai a lot. More of Lady Sarnai would have been enjoyable. The ending felt well-rounded and finished the adventure in a very beautiful way, even though it somehow also felt rushed. I feel like we could have observed Maia as a more active force to her own story, if the demon's curse wouldn't have befallen her, but Edan. Instead, Maia is constantly overwhelmed by the demon inside of her, first pulling her to Lake Paduan and later wanting to overpower and attack the shansen and the demon. While she managed to stay herself, it felt like observing her trying to stop a self-driving vehicle she was stuck in, but the movement wasn't her own. Also, for the love between Edan and Maia to portrayed as infinite and exceptional, more development would have been necessary in both 'Spin the dawn' and 'Unravel the dusk'. Maia not getting to really be a tailor and in her elements for most parts here was a little disappointing. Overall, I enjoyed the story, the characters and the world. Especially the first book had a enchanting and fairy-tale like atmosphere, that I really liked.
It was a bit dreading throughout the middle. We were very slowly moving and at the same time I felt like we weren’t moving in the story at all. The constant struggle of the main character, convincing and reassuring herself that in the end everything will turn out good was one too many times a repeated. Almost annoying to a point were it might be considered naive. A character I grew to like even more than I did in in the first book was the Lady Sarnai. I‘m glad she made a comeback here and I would have loved to see her as a person as well as the relationship to the main character develope more. The ending was very lovely. Very full-circle. While reading, and even now, I was debating if it would have made more sense for it to be a bigger book rather than a two-book series or if some parts of the second book would need to be a little bit more thought out/revised.
3,5 Sterne Leider hat mir Band 2 nicht so gut gefallen, wie der erste. Das lag vor allem an der Story, die ich nicht mehr so interessant fand. Schreibstil Ich habe keine große Veränderung zu Band 1 bemerkt. Weiterhin gute Mischung aus beschreibend und poetisch. !!!Wer Band 1 nicht kennt, sollte jetzt aufhören zu lesen!!! Story Die Geschichte geht im zweiten Band nahtlos weiter und wir verfolgen Maias inneren Kampf mit ihrer Verwandlung zum Dämon. Allgemein ist der 2. Band düsterer als der erste und auch etwas brutaler. Die Reise durch A'landi geht weiter und man erfährt noch etwas mehr über die verschiedenen Regionen. Auch einige Legenden kommen vor, was wieder sehr schön märchenhaft war. Ich glaube, wir bekommen auch einen kleinen Vorgeschmack auf Six Crimson Cranes (Die sechs Kraniche) mit einer dieser Legenden. Ich persönlich fand Band 1 spannender. In diesem Teil kam bei mir nur während des Kampfes gegen Bandur Spannung auf. Mitgefühlt habe ich dann gegen Ende als es um Maias Familie ging. Charaktere Eden kommt (zumindest in Persona) nur noch am Anfang und Ende der Geschichte vor. Mich hat es nicht sonderlich gestört, da er ja nun keine Magie mehr besitzt und ich die Beziehung zwischen ihm und Maia sowieso nicht stark gefühlt habe. Ammi bekommt dafür eine größere Rolle (eine Weile), das war eine schöne Abwechslung. Auch einer der Schneider aus Band 1 taucht wieder auf. Lady Sarnai ist auch weiter mit dabei, allerdings war sie mir im ersten Band sympathischer. Ihr Handeln in Bezug auf ihren Vater (oder auch umgekehrt), konnte ich nicht komplett nachvollziehen oder fand es etwas top much. Wer mehr von Maias Vater und Bruder möchte, wird ebenfalls auf seine/ihre Kosten kommen. Kritik Anfangs wurde mir einfach zu oft erwähnt, dass Maia sich ja sehr verändert hat und nicht mehr das gehorsame Mädchen von früher ist. Maia weiß sofort, wie sie die Magie der Kleider bzw. ihre Dämonenkräfte nutzen kann und sie sind auch immer passend zum Problem. So ist das Ganze zu einfach und es kommt nicht wirklich Spannung auf.
Konnte mich nicht catchen
Vielleicht ist es zu lange her, dass ich Band 1 gelesen habe… oder das Buch war einfach wirklich nicht so gut wie sein Vorgänger 🙈 mich konnte die Geschichte irgendwie nicht so packen, wie ich es erwartet habe. Die Spannung flachte immer wieder ab und es kam mir auch vor, als wäre die Story in die Länge gezogen worden. Mich konnte es deswegen leider nicht überzeugen.
Das hat mir zum Ende hin immer besser gefallen.
„I will stay by your side until the fire in the sun grows cold and the light of the moon is no more.“ Ok so the ending was strong but over all I was not as excited as I thought. Lims writing is beautiful and her world building is beautiful, but I thought book one was way better.

Im Gegensatz zu Band 1 haben mir die märchen- und zauberhafte Elemente gefehlt. Auch die Schneiderei ist ein bisschen zu kurz gekommen, was ich schade finde.
