Tropes: – age gap – forbidden romance – he is her guardian – suspense elements – spicy

Forbidden romance and spicy? That is a Q.B. Tyler book the way I love it, and I did love this book and inhaled it. Maddie and Cal have a great dynamic. I love that Maddie stands up for herself – she is such a strong female character while being girly at the same time. Cal is a bookboyfriend the way I like them – protective, but not coming off too possessive. I was really able to feel his and Maddie’s bond, and them being together feels so natural. I loved the spicy scenes. The taboo factor adds to the intrigue. The suspense elements surprisingly fit so very well into the story as a whole. The ending though, even though it feels like everything important is in it, feels in my opinion a bit too rushed. Though that doesn’t take away from how much I enjoyed reading this book. 4.5/5⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️

whilst I did really enjoy this read and devoured this in a few hours…. I don’t feel that much about the story. It’s a good book. A great book even. A smoking hot cop. An entertaining sassy girl. A forbidden love that keeps you in a spell. And it was hot. Like really hot. But that’s expected from Q. B. Tyler. I just didn’t really care about it all that much. It’s written really well and I can’t pin point any particular problem I had with the book or the story or anything. I just wasn’t as invested as I like to be when reading a book. I think it’s caused by the fact that we don’t see Maddie and Cals feelings develop. We start the story when the important change between them has already started and I think, I would have needed to read about them slowly realizing their feeling and that something is changing, for me to really care about them. Give me the emotions and thoughts they had, when realizing their relationship as it is wont stay that way. I would be invested. But they are already kinda in love and we are only waiting for them to finally give in to said feelings. I want to see them develop those feelings. But it’s still a big recommendation for all my taboo-romance stans and those who are on their way of becoming one. 3

1 ⭑ “You’re not sick, cal. promise me, you’ll never think that what we are is anything else but love. love in it’s purest form. nothing dirty or bad or wrong.. just a man and woman that were put in each other lives to help the other heal and grow and he happy.” he’s known her since she was seven, started lusting after her when she was 15/16 and started fucking her when she was 17 while he was an adult the whole time and of course not to forget to mention a cop, her only excuse was that she's almost 18 so it's ok like please shut up and then the flashbacks to when she was younger this made it even more awkward to read.
