Uuuuuf. I’m exhausted. Happy. Not sure. Thrilled. All the emotions for this one. I don’t think I can say too much without spoilers but there’s what is going on in my head- prepare - this might get looooong: I LOVED the FMC so much! She is a force of nature, wild, uncontrolled and with a lot of flaws. At times I was mad at her for acting the way she was because I wanted her to be easy and giving in. That shocked me. I’m so utterly thrilled by her journey and all that will come. I have not read about such a layered character in a long time. 100% a Tessa-Fan. The MMC makes me want to tear my hair out and at the same time I want him to find love and not feeling so empty. He has toxic tendencies and is also toxic a lot of times. He walks a thin thin line between an evil bastard and a troubled soul who is trying to be not his father. I still like him a lot. Layers, people. These characters have LAYERS and I love that. They are all flawed and at the same time you feel for them. It’s a LONG book and has a lot of toxic stuff and it feels like we are dealing with trauma response/ processing in real time. There were parts I really had to calm myself down because I was mad at these characters and I was wishing that they just come to fucking terms! But the suspense and that hope was also driving the plot into a scale I can’t comprehend just now. It’s a rollercoaster and it had its weak moments but the ending is promising SO much more and I need to read on. It’s dark, it’s twisted, toxic but with reasons and you will ask yourself the whole time on which site you’re on and what you would do. Only thing I did not like- freaking pet names - baby doll?’ - common!

What did I just read?? WHO EVEN are the main characters, really?! They all seem to have so many secrets and I‘m too stupid to figure anything out on my own soooo I need book 2 RIGHT NOW

Insgesamt hat die Geschichte dran behalten und ich wollte die ganze Zeit weiterlesen, alleine um zu wissen was mit Tessa passiert, aber Theon muss einer der unsympathischsten und uneinsichtigsten Charaktere ever sein. Absolut toxisch und konstant grenzüberschreitend. Ich konnte ihn und die Dialoge mit ihm oft kaum ertragen. Die beiden haben sich die meiste Zeit im Kreis gedreht, nur dass dann so zum Ende hin auf einmal plötzliche Meinungsänderungen aus dem Nichts stattfanden und Dinge, die vorher gar nicht verhandelbar waren, auf einmal gemacht wurden. Einfach komisch und oftmals nicht ganz nachvollziehbar. Auch das Ende.. so lange drauf hingearbeitet, um dann irgendwie komplett unspektakulär zu sein. Insgesamt hat es der Geschichte einfach an Worldbuildung und Hintergrundwissen gefehlt. Es wird sich fast komplett auf die toxische Dynamik zwischen Tessa und Theon konzentriert.
