German Review on GosuReviews 4.5* Really amazing debut novel by Luke Scull. Interesting worldbuilding, where the world is slowly disintegrating after a group of mages stormed the realm of the Gods and destroyed them, scattering their bodies all over the world, where their leeching magic is then mined. A very unique and interesting setting. I am just a bit worried about the enormous powers of the mages after the Godwar. I feel always bad for the warriors, because they actually don't matter, the battle is in the end always decided by who has the last mage standing. The huge cast of characters offers one for everybody's taste. The huge barbarian Warrior, the grumpy wizard, the dutiful watchman and my favorite the proudly convinced hero. A lot of grey characters and a story told from both sides of the conflict. Storywise it was well paced and a good introduction into the world. A lot of mysteries are left open and I really like to see how everything will developed. Oh and the prose was great. Somehow I enjoy the prose of British writers more than American's.
DNF at 30% - no motivation to pick it up again since last year.
