Promised in Fire (Of Dragons and Fae Book 1)

I really liked this story. The world is fascinating and I love how the author included dragons and fae. One stars less because the FMC is a bit too naive to me and the conflicts were solved a bit too easy for me. But the tension is nice - definitely slooooooow burn. The overall plot is overtaken by quests after quests and sometimes I was wishing for more complicated plotting and scheming. But I’m looking forward to read more. I definitely fell in love with Einar and also with the great side characters. Let’s see were this is going. P. S. No spice yet. Just in case you wanna know…but I love me some good slow burn

Ich bin durch BookTok auf das Buch aufmerksam geworden und dachte mir beim Klappentext: Drachen (☑️), Fated Mates (☑️), Enemies to Lovers (☑️). Mega. 😍 Die Geschichte hat auch sehr vielversprechend angefangen. Ich mochte das Worldbuilding und die Beschreibung der Charaktere (natürlich sind alle wunderschön…😄). Im Zuge der Geschichte um Adara und Einar wurde mir aber irgendwie langweilig. Es gab keinen wirklich Beziehungsaufbau und der FMC ist wirklich alles in den Schoß gefallen (an der Stelle höre ich auf, wegen Spoiler). Ich habe die anderen beiden Bände dann noch überflogen, ohne sie wirklich gelesen zu haben und irgendwie bin ich mit der Serie nicht so zufrieden. Tolle Grundidee mit der Elementarmagie aber dann hat die Story doch ihre Schwächen und manches wirkt sehr gewollt und gestellt, anstelle eine richtige Tiefe aufzubauen.

I love the world but the story leaves a lot to be desired

I love the world in which the book is set. The dragons and the fae with their powers and how great everything is described. The story itself is also a good idea, but from halfway through the book everything always seems to turn out the way the main character needs it to. Decisions made by other people that can't be clearly explained and conclusions drawn that make you think: where did they come from?

Mega hooked

Dieses Buch war für mich ein klarer 5-Sterne-Read. Ich wusste nur, dass es eine abgeschlossene Trilogie mit Drachen und Feen ist. Und wow, ich war nach wenigen Seiten hooked! 😲 Die Story und der Plot waren für mich erfrischend, da ich lange nichts Ähnliches gelesen habe. Die Wendungen waren nie wirklich vorhersehbar. Bin schon sehr gespannt auf die Entwicklung der Beziehung von Adara und Einar, bisher war da leider immer nu eher "nope, dass wär nicht gut". 👀 Das war aber auch irgendwie schon fas einzige Manko für mich. Starte jetzt gleich in der zweiten Teil. 😌

Promising, but lacks depth

I started this book after seeing it over and over on bookstagram and the plot and tropes sounded very promising. The story got me swept in from the start, was really easy to get into and it felt like a fast-paced, fun read. At some point though I felt like everything the main character needed simply fell into her lap and happened to turn out just like she needed it. That made it seem like the character development fell kinda flat and the growth was rather suddenly there than developed during the story so we readers could follow along. The world building is pretty much kept to a minimum which is a pity because it seemed super promising and like a great idea. From time to time there are modern terms used in the language which makes it feel less immersive. The ending and the cliffhanger did make me get the next book though and I still wanna see where this story and the characters go.
