Nicht mein Favorit 🫣
Nachdem ich schon einiges von Elsie Silver gelesen hatte, durfte natürlich diese Reihe auch nicht fehlen. Leider finde ich, dass der erste Band einer ihrer schwächsten Bücher ist. Ich konnte die Chemie zwischen den beiden Protagonisten nicht wirklich fühlen, alles wirkte ein bisschen erzwungen und beide Charaktere waren furchtbar anstrengend. Auch das Finale zum Schluss konnte mich emotional nicht wirklich mitreißen, nichtsdestotrotz freue ich mich schon darauf, Violets Geschichte zu lesen ☺️

Es ist eine nette Liebesgeschichte, aber so richtig hat es mich leider nicht überzeugt.

Hello Bücherfreunde, Der erste Teil der Gold Rush Ranch Reihe war wirklich toll. Es geht um Billie und Vaughn, die beide so einiges zu verarbeiten haben und natürlich auch um den unglaublichen Double Diablo. Die Schlagabtausche der beiden MC's sind echt unglaublich witzig, nervenaufreibend und heiß. Der Spice in diesem Buch war auf jeden Fall sehr nice ;) Aber davon mal abgesehen fand ich es auch sehr spannend über die Entwicklung von unserem Black Beauty zu lesen und wie die Pferderennen ausgegangen sind. Wer sich gern zwischendurch auf eine Ranch in Amerika träumt, sollte bei dem Buch genau ins Schwarze treffen. Ich bin schon gespannt auf die nächsten Teile. Viel Spaß beim Lesen XOXO Jojo
4/5 Stars I finally dove into the debut book of my small-town romance queen, and Off to the Races did not disappoint. This was a solid, sizzling start to the Gold Rush Ranch series, and I devoured it like a late-night snack I didn’t know I needed. Billie absolutely stole the show for me. She’s a powerhouse—sharp, fierce, and unapologetically herself in a male-dominated world of racehorses. She doesn’t bend, she doesn’t flinch, and she definitely doesn’t wait for permission. I adored her mama bear energy and the way she fiercely protects what (and who) she loves. Total boss woman energy. Vaughn… well, he’s a grump. Classic brooding hero with a stick so far up his ass it probably has its own stable. While he might not make my personal list of favorite book men (he was a bit flat in personality compared to Billie’s fire), I still understood the appeal. He’s got the slow-burn, rough-exterior thing going on, and hey, the man does try. That said, I honestly think Billie had better chemistry with literally everyone else—especially DD. But maybe that’s just me rooting for chaos and emotionally supportive besties. Even with that, I really enjoyed the tension, the banter, and the slow unraveling of their relationship. The Gold Rush Ranch setting was vivid and charming, and I loved the side characters and the promise of more stories to come. Elsie Silver clearly knows how to build a world that feels like home. A great debut and a strong foundation for the series—I’ll definitely be back for more.

Eine nette Liebesgeschichte aber für mich zu viele Klischees und sehr vorhersehbar. Trotzdem Angenehm einfacher schreibstil und kurzweilig.
I liked the drama, the banter, the third act break up and the reunion but somehow I didn’t see the connection between the two of them? like why exactly do the love each other? the development of their feelings just felt odd and somehow rushed. 3.5

DNF @ 32% Man I just truly hated the characters. Like badly hated them. Can’t do anymore of this weird stuffy dude and girl trying SUPER hard to taunt him. Also the writing ain’t it
My least favorite Elsie Silver book so far but I still enjoyed reading it 🙈🫶🏻
So this was a decent book. It was cute, funny and easy to read but it wasn‘t more. As far as I‘m aware it is Elsie Silver‘s first book and you can really see that. I still thought it was a good time.
I got through it. Honestly, I would have been happier if she took the horse and just booked it. I didn’t like Vaughn and Billie together. I didn’t feel the connection. She was just meh and he was a total toolbox. At the 40% mark I started to skim through the book. The book was forgettable for me. I read that it was the first book of Elsie Silver and I could tell.
