The title/ makeup of this book made me sceptical, but I was willing to give it a try due to generally good Amazon reviews. However, it isn't well-paced, plus the main girl is the usual "not your usual girl", she's tough and independent and beautiful and witty (but boy of boy, any comparism with Sherlock is imo almost never a good idea). She immediately discovers her magic by summoning a dildo of her own blood (wtf whyyy) and masters it instantly, then saves the most powerful mage around from a demon shadow smudge thing while he does nothing but asking her how to get rid of said shadow. Hmmm. I mean I do like some things, such as how unapologetic she is, that she's known the main guy since school, as well as the stuff with the best friend and the judaism, that's something I never read as this. Plus, I enjoyed the magic system. Nonetheless, I don't like some of the tropes - stiffling a scream with enemy in front of door. Or that she doesn't want to concern her best friend with some specific info to let her live in her bubble.
