Tropes: – best friends to lovers – friends with benefits – toxic relationship – ex drama – cheating
Leigh and Everett are so toxic, it’s quite intriguing in my opinion (though definitely a content warning regarding infidelity), but at least at first I found it intriguing, until I didn‘t anymore. Then there comes the drama, and it‘s the kind of drama I despise. Something that bothered me in particular is that despite Everett doing something wrong, somehow her friends (Peyton excluded from this statement, she is the best part of the book) and his friends twist it around like SHE is the bad guy. Even if nothing happened, he acted so incredibly stupid (in a lot of ways) and in my opinion he deserved the whiplash he got and he deserved to take more of the blame than he in the end took. Somehow this feels like a double standard, because whenever she hangs out with this guy from her course he‘s all possessive and ‘I don‘t want you to hang out with him‘. 2/5⭐️ 3/5🌶️
