Maybe I just like this book because I'm reading it every single eastern holiday for... six years now (they are very special holidays for me, though I guess it's only fair and this book is quite connected with the holidays). But I don't think so because they must be a reason why I read it a second and third time. I don't like the end very much, but since I don't want to spoil anyone..... For my opinion it's well written (of course it's not a Tolkien, but I wasn't expecting this and she was 17, not 50 when she wrote it). It's the authors first work and far better than other first works I read. I like most of the characters, I can feel with them and I like the concept of this world. The descriptions are very well done and I can really SEE the places. I read it in german, though. Maybe it's different in other languages and the translation did a great job (which they seem to did, anyway). But they didn't made up the idea and the love behind every single word; the love for the characters and places and this is what I appreciate in books. There are so many empty books outside, but this isn't. It's not a perfect work, of course not and like I said, the end disappointed me a bit (every single time...), but it makes ME laugh and shed here and there a tear. So; read it and then decide. I think it's worth a glimpse.
