Giulia Tofana hilft den misshandelten und armen Frauen Roms, indem sie ihnen Gift verkauft, oder es zuweilen auch verschenkt. Natürlich endet das nicht gut für sie und ihren "Zirkel". Die Idee des Buches fand ich sehr spannend, zumal es auf einer echten Person basiert (wenn auch nur lose). Den Schreibstil fand ich angenehm, aber auch nicht bahnbrechend. Alles in allem bleibt mir das Buch aber zu flach. Die Charaktere entwickeln keine Tiefe, bleiben oberflächlich und einseitig beschrieben und handeln mitunter nach ziemlich dürftigen Motiven. Noch dazu schafft es die Autorin nicht im Ansatz einen Spannungsbogen zu erzeugen, da sie das Ende der Geschichte an den Anfang gestellt hat.

It was a nice read, though I find the random Italian words thrown in there rather unessecary. I don't get why the Dual P.OV. was necessary, either, for Alessandro did almost nothing to the plot? Sure, he hired Bracchi, who eventually lead do their MC's demise, but there was no actual reason for him to have his own POV. He only ever talks about his 'lustful delusions' and the progress in capturing the MC anyway. It was nicely written, though it isn't my personal favorite. The characters felt somewhat refined personality-wise. The 'plottwist' at the end was kind of... well. Not really enjoyable? It happens within the last 20 pages, and it was totally unnecessary. Again. Atleast, in my opinion. She poisoned her abusive stepfather (Which is somewhat understandable, of course, for he raped and impregnanted her), but her mother took the blame. Her mother died, because of her recklessness? Well. I don't know, my feelings are conflicted on that matter. Anyway, the book will most likely stand on my shelf for quiet some time.
I didn’t even realize there was supposed to be a plot twist.
I can see the sisterhood theme, but the whole time I was reading it, my only thought was, “how reckless.”
