Beschreibung

A John Cleese Twitter question ("What is your pet peeve?"), first sparked the "Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops" blog, which grew over three years into one bookseller's collection of ridiculous conversations on the shop floor.

From "Did Beatrix Potter ever write a book about dinosaurs?" to the hunt for a paperback which could forecast the next year's weather; and from "I've forgotten my glasses, please read me the first chapter" to "Excuse me... is this book edible?", here is a book for heroic booksellers and booklovers everywhere.

This full-length collection illustrated by the Brothers McLeod also includes top "Weird Things" from bookshops around the world.

Lustige Geschichten aus dem Buchhändler Alltag. Fast etwas zu kurz, ich hätte gerne noch viiiiiieeeel mehr gelesen.

This was so much fun, I laughed myself hoarse reading it! At times, it's also a bit sad, though ;-)

Ich liiiiiebe dieses Buch! Habe es heute früh als Vorbereitung auf ein Bewerbungsgespräch gleich nochmal verschlungen!

Funny selection of conversations. Still shocked of the amount of disrespect some customers show. Dear booksellers, keep doing what you do, you are wonderful and we need you! ❤️

Customer: Do you have this children's book I've heard about? It's supposed to be very good. It's called "Lionel Richie and the Wardrobe." I'm still laughing! :D

I don't think people will believe that all the entries in this book are taken from real life unless they've worked in a bookshop for a while. As a bookseller, I can swear they are. I've actually had quite some of these conversations live, with real customers - only in German, mostly. I'd almost recommend this as a trainee guide because for the few first times you get this weird moments, you are just stunned speechless, and the booksellers in here have brilliant answers now and again. :-D

War an manchen Stellen ganz amüsant, aber größtenteils waren die Kundenfragen vollkommen verständlich und kein wenig kurios

3

The first few were quite funny, but after half a book, it got a little less interesting.

4.5 stars! Haha this was absolutely hilarious! And as I've been working in retail for the past 6 or so years I can totally relate to some things mentioned :D What an uplifting and fun read!
