Beschreibung

Orca Monroe wants only one thing for her eighteenth birthday: to experience the Otherworld-the mysterious "mainland" across the sea that her father has forbidden her from visiting.

Growing up in a lighthouse on a remote island, Orca has lived isolated from the world... until one day when she finds a cell phone washed up on the beach. Orca has her first conversation with Jack Stevenson, a young man whose older brother, Adam, has gone missing after crashing his seaplane off the coast. Orca becomes Jack's lifeline and his reason to hope that Adam is still alive. While her father is away, she scours the island for the missing pilot-determined to help Jack find his brother and prove to her father that she's strong enough to take on the world.

One stormy night, Orca finds Adam Stevenson collapsed on her doorstep. As she nurses him back to health, she finds herself spellbound by his inquiring mind and rugged good looks. Simultaneously, Adam is captivated by her wild beauty and pure heart. But with a ten-year age gap between them-and her father's determination to keep Orca protected from outsiders-Adam knows they can never be together.

Resigned to give Orca up, Adam returns to the mainland-but Jack refuses to leave her trapped at the lighthouse. Blind to the fact that his brother is in love with her, Jack offers to show Orca the world she's always dreamed of. But when she leaves her island for the first time, Orca begins to realize that the mainland may hold more dark secrets than she ever imagined... and the two brothers she helped bring back together may be the very people she tears apart.

I had the opportunity to be an arc reader, so thank you a lot, Abbie, for giving me this opportunity to read your lovely book before it came out! No real spoilers in here. Where do I start? I love the way Abbie describes things. From page one, I was completely immersed into Orca's world and I could imagine everything perfectly in my head. I was a little afraid of not liking the book cause I am not a fan of love triangles. I still am not, but the way Abbie wrote it made it totally fine to read. It wasn't the typical "Which one am I gonna choose in the end?"-triangle thing. For me, it was obvious from the beginning which brother she would choose - and that was great. I am also not a fan of falling in love within a short time break, but I could also accept it because it was necessary for the story. And it was worth accepting it for what followed! All relationships were flowing naturally for me. Except for one person, I liked every character in this book. Adam was my favourite (sorry, Jack :D). His way of thinking about life and his personality made me fall in love with him. The love story was believable and well-written. For me, the ending also was a perfect round-up and it made my heart flutter in joy. What else is there to say? I really enjoyed reading this book. It wasn't a "I can't put it down"-read for me, but whenever I had some free time, I came back to Orca's world and enjoyed what I found there. If you liked Disney's Tangled, this book might be for you. And if you're also a fan of cosy books that warm your heart, this might also be for you. I enjoyed reading this book. And the cover is a total plus! "The Otherworld" is a lovely piece of art. Thank you for sharing Orca and her world with us, Abbie.

😚 ... 🤔
