Beschreibung

He is righteousness. She is sin.
Father Cade Frédéric is a holy man. Brought up in the streets of Paris, he has dedicated his life to the church. But there's a monster that lingers just beneath the surface. A sickness. One that bleeds darkness and feeds on the damned. When he's tasked to become the priest in Festivalé, Vermont―a town both beautiful in architecture and riddled with despair―his sickness sings, demanding he rid the place of evil.
Amaya Paquette is Festivalé's beautiful mystery. She spends her days caring for her younger brother and her nights transforming into Esmeralda, dancing for greedy eyes and shameless lips. Although she longs for love, she shies away from companionship, afraid of being abandoned again.
When Father Cade lays eyes on Amaya, he finds himself ensnared, convinced she's using witchcraft to lure him to her. He can't eat. Can't breathe. Can't think unless it's of her.
And temptation is a devastating mistress.
She's his weakness, so he decides he'll be her demise…even if it means killing the only woman he might ever love.

"This stranger. Ma petite pécheresse. My little sinner." okay okay, we are used to a certain level of amazingness from Emily McIntire. She always delivers with amazing stories, exciting characters and impeccable writing. She is my favorite dark romance author. So I’m not even remotely surprised that I read the shit out of this. ITS SO FUCKING GOOD. I'M OBSESSED. It’s a tad darker and more twisted than the previous books in this series. We follow the story of Father Cade, priest for the local church and part-time killer and Amaya, a stripper. They cross paths and immediately feel a deep pull towards each other. But Cade Frédéric is a priest. He’s promised to the church. And Amaya has some obstacles in her life, that keep her away from from him. Or at least should. Because both are unable to keep a distance. The result: A priest stalking a stripper. And whatever your envisioning now: it’s better. This was soo well written. Emily McIntire took tension and anticipation with this book to a new level. I was unable to stop myself from reading, too eager to continue with the story. The push and pull between Amaya and Cade was so exciting to read about. You could cut the tension between these two with a knife. Will they finally, won’t they? How will this story end? How will they possibly make it work? Why is Cade so hot? Emily why are you doing this to me, I can’t handle the edging?! Just to list a few questions, I was screaming at my kindle. Her character portrayal was a joy to read about. How they both struggled with their mutual attraction towards each other. Overcoming their own demons in order to be able to be together. Steps forwards and steps backwards. Keeping me at the edge of my seat the entire time. And the spice, as per usual, couldn’t have been done better. The air was constantly heavily charged with sexual tension between Amaya and Cade. And when they finally gave in to it… sparks were indeed flying. To sum this up: a great book! I can only wholeheartedly urge you all to give it a go. If you enjoyed Emily McIntires writing in the past - you’ll loveeee this one. And even if you haven’t read any of her books, as long as you enjoy some dark romance, this is for you! Morally grey characters at it’s best. A greatly executed forbidden romance. Passionate yes, to everything in that book. 5

Absolutely loved it! Close to the end there was a shocker moment - I didn't expect this to happen, but all in all, I think it was good for the character. I simply love how Emily makes you fall in love with the devil of the story. Such a fantastic writing and plotting ❤️. From reading other reviews I expected a different ending, tbh, but I absolutely love love looove the ending they got!
