Beschreibung

Now a Netflix TV show! Black Swan meets Pretty Little Liars in this soapy, drama-packed novel featuring diverse characters who will do anything to be the prima at their elite ballet school.
From the New York Times-bestselling author of The Belles, Dhonielle Clayton, and the author of the acclaimed Symptoms of a Heartbreak, Sona Charaipotra.
Gigi, Bette, and June, three top students at an exclusive Manhattan ballet school, have seen their fair share of drama. Free-spirited new girl Gigi just wants to dance—but the very act might kill her. Privileged New Yorker Bette's desire to escape the shadow of her ballet-star sister brings out a dangerous edge in her. And perfectionist June needs to land a lead role this year or her controlling mother will put an end to her dancing dreams forever.
When every dancer is both friend and foe, the girls will sacrifice, manipulate, and backstab to be the best of the best.
Don’t miss the gossip, lies, and scandal that continues in Tiny Pretty Things’ gripping sequel, Shiny Broken Pieces!

I really hope ballerinas aren't as crazy in real live... I enjoyed this story a lot even though it's a bit too much drama at some points. Looking forward to the sequel.

Just a really quick review. Going into this all I wanted was a quick read in between books. Something scandalous and a bit soapy. I was hoping for lots of ballet and drama! Oh well, "Tiny Pretty Things" was such a slow read. I was debating not finishing it but somehow I kept going. This novels biggest problem is that it's not well-structured. Maybe it was released prematurely, I don't know. It could have needed some more editing. Also the ballet setting does not really add to the story. Sometimes I felt like the girls' story of rivalry and pressure could have taken place in any other setting. If you want to read about the physical and mental pressure that is professional ballet you should read [b:The Cranes Dance|12975068|The Cranes Dance|Meg Howrey|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1332944822s/12975068.jpg|18133719] by [a:Meg Howrey|4228949|Meg Howrey|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1332945182p2/4228949.jpg]. It's not fair to compare two novels targeting very different age groups but I just want to throw in a really great ballet novel here. Tiny Pretty Things is a good YA read. The characters are interesting enough to have kept me reading. I just think it could have been so much more.

I thank this book entirely for getting me out of the worst reading slump ever. This book is beautiful, unique and unlike anything I've read before. The writing style is perfect too and it is very surprising how the authors managed to make all three naratives so different from each other. It is strange but my favourite character is Bette. I know she's VERY flawed and sometimes even cruel but i couldn't help but feel drawn to her, feel sorry for her. Her chapters were the most interesting for me to read. And this is probably an unpopular opinion but I don't really like June. I found myself frustrated and sometimes even disgusted when I was reading her chapters. She always seemed so hypocritical, angry and self-centered. When everyone was shoked by something terrible that had happened, even Bette, she was just so... calm and cold-hearted. She always saw benefit for herself in the most awful situations and I just couldn't agree with such views and behavior. Also, i was so tense at all times because something was constantly happening, always keeping me on my toes. I was intrigued by all the characters, even if i didn't like them. All in all, i very liked this book and can't wait to read the sequel!

When push comes to shove, no one is that good at keeping secrets. I’ve watched the Netflix series before I started reading the books. And I think I prefer the TV show. I love the diversity of the book and June’s Korean family didn’t play a role in the show at all, at least not the Korean culture. But contrary to the show, I feel like there wasn’t any plot at all. In the show, you had the build-up to the Ripper musical. This wasn’t the case in the book. There were two performances - The Nutcracker and Giselle - but the performances didn’t really happen. The reader is not joining the girls in the theatre. There’s a lot of talk but no real climax. Despite that, I’m still reading the second book of the series.

I read the book after watching the Netflix series and I actually really enjoyed it and will definitely read the sequel. The descriptions of the dancing parts were really good, which is always something I look forward to in dance/ballet books
